Congrats Kaylee

I went there for my first scan about 7 weeks - there was not much to look for but i found them not the best.. rushed thru it.... they were 1 hour late too

The guy that did it was not the best, i can say that now cause had a few more scans.

Maybe it was cause there was not much to see..

Also might have something to do with them being free as well.. I have only had 3 scans and one to come and they are only $25 so not to bad

I'm not sure which one you are asking about, but I've used the henderson one.
My 12 wk scan with Jake was fine.
My 12 wk scan with Morgan she was useless when doing the nucal measurement, took ages, had to get someone to check (freaked me out!) but it was all ok thankfully, they lady who checked did it in about 10 seconds!
My 20wk scan was with the same lady - she was VERY rude when we asked (very politely at the end) if she knew the gender, she took a 20 second look and said she couldn't tell. End of conversation.
Had a 35 wk growth scan and asked for someone else. That went fine.

I have been to the one in Henderson

first scan was fine that was at about 5 - 6 weeks to find out dates, due to irregular cycle. Not much to see but the lady was very nice.

2nd scan at 12 weeks was okay, but had a trainee so then had someone come and check everything afterwards. Had to wait awhile.

3rd scan at 20 weeks again had to wait ages and then the lady was kind of rude when we ask if she could see the gender, she hardly looked and then said "could be a girl....could be a boy" and I thought, well I knew that!

I had to have a lot of scans late in pregnancy due to GD and they were much better but still had a few trainees who had to get someone else to check things.

I went to the Henderson one as well.
Had the first scan at 7 weeks (mostly cause I really wanted to have a look) the lady I had was a little short (maybe didn't really think I should of been having it?) but OK in general got to see the heartbeat etc.
For my 12 week scan I had a lovely lady who unfortunately had the terrible job of telling us our bubs had died at 9 weeks. She was wonderful, they took us to a room gave us a drink and rang my midwife to let her know. We had about 4 different ladies check on us and give us hugs they were all absoulutely lovely I cannot complement them enough on how great they where.

I went to the Henderson one for Jack's scans (20wk and 30-something weeks) and Ben's scans (12wk, 20wk) and had no problems at all, they were all lovely, polite and friendly

I went to the Sylvia Park one for a dating scan with DD.

It was fine, it took her a bit of time to find things, but got there in the end. Even saw the heartbeat which wasn't bad for 6 weeks something that I was. Was free as well so that's a bonus.

For a dating scan I would recommend them. For the important ones such as the nuchal and anatomy scans, we went to Insight and paid for them.

I have been to botany, Manukau and Sylvia park, and all of them have been great, they talked me through the scans, pointed out all the bits they looked at, and even printed off some nice pictures for me to show off. They can also record the scan on video for free, or DVD for an extra cost (I *think* it was about $20)

You can only get scans done there with a referral form from GP or midwife, so you'll need to sort out a midwife first, and they dont generally do early scans (pre-12w) unless theres a history of miscarriage, or if theres discrepancies with your due date

Mine were all free except the 12w one which i paid $25-30 for, and I also chose to do a 4D scan at 26w through Auckland Xray services I think its called, on Dominion Rd in Mt Eden. cost $50 and was defintely worth it! (no referral needed for that one either)

congrats kat, I am surprised you are UTD, you never let on when you were in the chart thread the other day well we are glad you did not have to join us in a long journey of waiting for a BFP.

Bet it came as a surprise to you & I saw your other thread about positions so obviously the only position you do does work, you should go update that as I am sure others will be pleased to know you are UTD.

There are a lot of lovely ladies in the due in nov, hope you join them.

looking forward to seeing your scan.

Ditto what Jazzy said! And also great to see that you obviously didn't need to use Fertility Plus like you were asking about last week in the Infertility thread. Are you asking about scans because you are going for an early one?

I went for an early scan once cause of bleeding, it was too early to see a heart beat but all looked good & was. I think it is after 7 weeks they see a heart beat.

That is good you don't need Fertility Plus. Lucky you for getting pg so quickly

I went to the Botany and Manurewa ones. I didn't like manurewa at all. They rushed it both times and were very blunt and nasty when it came to my miscarriage. There is a male at the Botany who i found to be really good. He talked me through everything and even gave me extra photos :)

Congrats!!!

We used botany no worries - guy there was the one who discovered my bicornuate (so I blame him for costing me $4000! LOL) and also confirmed gender for DH once and for all! LOL!

They were fine and would get me in short notice if need be (I was working fulltime and under pressure for work times etc) - and they are free unless you want the dvd etc...

We used Henderson- 12 week scan took ages and we had to have someone come and double check the nuchal measurements. 20 Week scan was fine and also had someone double check. I'm happy they did as it seems responsible to have the results confirmed

We used Henderson for all of our scans

First at 12 weeks was a really lovely guy, he was fantastic and spent a long time 'looking around' and explaining everything to us.

Around 16-17 weeks we had one, she was lovely and very helpful.

20 week was ok - the lady wasn't too friendly, more business like which was fine.. she did manage to tell us the sex without an issue

Had another at around 28 weeks and she was ok, different lady again.

The receptionists were are SO helpful though, the 16wk and 28wk ones were kind of urgent and they did everything they could to fit me in, even calling me when someone had cancelled to see if the time suited.   All the scans were free too

I went to Henderson for scans at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 41 weeks but had the 20 week one elsewhere.

I found them to be really great for all scans (especially after the less than great service I had for the anatomy scan....but I digress ). I think it was different people each time, but all of them were lovely and helpful, and explained things to us wthout dumbing it down or being condescending.

And as an aside - alot of westies around

We used Henderson for all our scans and they were great! I had lots of scans due to macrosomia (in other words I was expecting a very big baby so needed close monitoring).

Sorry, I had to laugh at "confirming gender for DH" - I thought DH's gender would have been confirmed by then

We went to the Northcote one for 12 week scan. The man was rude, it was very rushed, and neither DH or I could see the screen properly.

All in all not a good experience.

For the 20 week we will pay whatever the costs are and go to Insight instead.
