I'm a littl bit lost as to what I can eat when out and about. I travel in the car a lot (most days all day) and all I can think of are things I can't eat (sandwiches & salads) so would love some suggestions as to what I can have for lunch or as a snack during the day.
In general I will have a fruit smoothie and a piece of toast for breakfast and then a cooked dinner at night. But no idea for during the day when on the road. I'm never sure what to get from a bakery, cafe or deli.

you can have salads, esp if you make them yourself and just wash everything before you prepare it. They recommend you stay away from the ready made things purely because you don't know when or how they were prepared. I tried to keep a stash of low GI foods in my desk at work and also cereals were good, could eat them dry or with milk / yoghurt. And I always had bags of fruit - nectarines, peaches, mandarins

Fruit, muesli bars, nuts, muffins, if you are buying from a bakery you can eat anything hot - just ask what time it was baked.

If in doubt KFC Chips n gravy are always good

I would go with something hot & a place where there is high turnover.

If I am at a cafe for lunch I often go with a vegetarian frittata and ask that it be really well heated.

lol yeah KFC chips are where its at. hot chips from a fish n chip shop are good aswell coz of the high heat they are fried in.

if you did sammies you could do spreads (peanut butter, vegemite, honey etc)

you can make your own salads (just wash everything first as you make it)

at a cafe or bakery go for something fresh cooked/baked. or ask that it be heated. (wel lheated, not just a 10 sec "warm up") breads and stuff like that are ohk aswell. mmmmm fresh baked bread.

if you on the road can you go into a supermarket? if you took a bowl of dry cereal, you could go and get a single-serving tub of yoghurt or a really small bottle of milk...

you can make your own egg salad....

hope some of these help!
