Hey there,
Its MIL birthday in just over a week and I have no idea what to get her.
She is kinda weird about stuff and I am really starting to struggle with what to buy her.
For christmas I got her a DVD of the photo session (Momentz) she had with the kids and printed one picture off and put it on a photo block. She never really even looked at it and then went on about a $10 platter that someone else brought her.
This made me think that I reallt don't have to spend too much or get too thoughtful but still can't think of anything.
Any ideas?

Gosh I could have written your post! I have given up worrying too much about MIL's (and FIL's) presents anymore. I usually leave it up to DH to come up with the ideas and he usually comes up with something really exciting like petrol vouchers or golf balls! I used to hate that but just don't worry anymore.
A book, magazine subscription? Does she have any hobbies or play sports? Something to do with those? Another $10 platter . A "Grandma/Nana" coffee mug full of chocolates?

My MIL hates kitchen stuff, but likes garden stuff. So plants etc are what I get her and sometimes small hamper of nice jams etc.
FIL get either book vouchers or CD/DVD vouchers, I simply rotate them between birthday and Christmas.
This year they'll be getting baby photos makes for easy present decisions.

Id buy some cardboard or canvas' and get the boys to paint on them like finger painting or with a brush
(or you could put there foot prints on them)
you could also frame it for her

I second what Tastic said.
Mothers Day in Ireland/UK is next weekend so I bought 2 canvases and let the girls loose on them with finger paints and we posted them off to Granny & Nana last week.
