Just thought i'd let everyone know, coz i wish i'd found out sooner.
about a month ago, i took mikey to see a cranial osteopath. mikey was a vontouse delivery and ever since he was a newborn he's been very irritable and just in general, not very relaxed. he also had lots of trouble sleeping, it got progressivly worse until just before we took him to the osteopath, he wasn't going to sleep until around 2.30am every single night and crying for hours.
when i took him i was a bit sceptical because it didnt really look like the guy did anything except pick up mikeys head and massage him a bit. but that night, mikey went to sleep before midnight for the first time in aaages. we had 3 more sessions over the period of 2 weeks and now mikey goes to sleep every night at the reasonable hour of 7.30pm and i'm saved all the walking up and down the hallway!!
i read a brochure on it and it said that cranial osteopathy can help for alot of baby things like sleeping problems, colic, reflux etc.
but best of all, mikeys alot more relaxed now and he loves cuddles!!! he never used to let anyone close to his head.
sorry for the big spiel but i'm just so relieved that mikeys happier now

they'll probably be in the yellow pages anywhere. i had to go to nelson to find one though because there weren't any in greymouth. don't confuse, cranial osteopathy with cranial sacral therapy as they are completely different.
it's kind of costly, it cost i think $37 for each visit for mikey but if you have acc it only costs $17 i think. but it was totally worth it. my mum reckons its best to get every baby checked out just in case. my little sisters baby got checked out and there was nothing wrong with him but at least now she knows that he's not in pain or anything

That's awesome that he's much happier now!

Some friends of ours wanted to pay for Ella to go to one when she was born.. but as I had a normal birth with no complications I didn't see the point, as in if it's not broke, don't fix it.. but if something had gone wrong, I might have thought about it.. good to hear some good news about them though :)

Just wanted to tell a friend's story... her partner insisted that they take their newborn babe to see a chiropractor (as that is what his mum did for him) despite the fact that she was a contented baby.
Rach claims that since taking her to the chiropractor, Katie has been very unsettled.
Could be entirely unrelated... or could be the cause... who knows...

Anyway, I like the sound of the Osteopath a lot more than the Chiropractor

I have heard about people taking their babies to osteopaths before, and I they ALWAYS rave about it. Apparently it is fantastic for babies that may have had a tricky birth.

I never needed it for Quinnbut if this birth is difficult I will definitely consider it!

My cousin went to a cranial osteopath during her pregnancy and she raves about him, he fixed her heart burn, had no back pain, fixed her sinus probs as well! Then when her little girl was born, she took her to him and he fixed her colic.

its great, in england apparently all babys born in hospital get checked over by an osteopath before being discharged.
