Hi,
I am moving to Christchurch next month and am 8 weeks pregnant with my third baby.
Can anyone recommend a great midwife or give me feedback on Robyn Little a midwife at Merivale Midwifes. I left a message and she called back saying she could take me on but I have never heard of her. I would really appreciate some help.

Any of the MW's at Merivale a very good. They have a great wee team so you are guarenteed a great back up as well.

It depends what you are looking for, I found the midwives at barrington fantastic, they are more likely to recommend a natural (not necessarily homeopathic) remedy rather than throwing medications at you.
Don't know much about merivale midwives, I guess it depends what circles your in, but what I have heard about them is they have a high CS rate and high FF rate. That's not necessarily a bad thing, again depends what you are wanting?

I don't know what a FF rate is but I have had two births with them and no c sections. All my friends have birthed with them and no c sections so who would know.
I loved my MW and the back up and would not give birth with any one else. Theya re kind and caring but tough when they have to be. I never had meds the whole time I was preg with both kids but developed PE with my first and was fully supported with this. My MW was amazing and helped me no end. I birthed with my backup for my 2nd baby and was even more impressed.
Edited to add; If you mean FF then they may have a higher rate cos they support the mother in what ever she chooses to do. I FF from birth. My decision based on numerous factors. I was pleased to find a MW that educated and then supported me in my decision. Each to their own and I loved the fact that my MW supported my decision.

Domino MW's are really good. I'm with Marion Nelis and she's awesome. Very practical, very good at keeping you relaxed about things.......totally listens to what you want, need etc and she has a nursing background. Her back ups which I've only met 1 of are very good too but I have heard that any of the Domino ladies are good.
Congrats on your pregnancy and goodluck with the big move

I think she is great too since she is my mum! I would have her as my midwife any day but I live to far away now. I am due in November and she is already knitting up a storm for her first grandchild

Congratulations Georgie!!! I'll have to congratulate your mum too when I see her next!
I really mean what I say about her. She has been awesome with me especially with my little "freak out" moments

I third that for Halswell Village! I had Vicki and she was awesome! I could contact her whenever and she would always be very prompt to respond. No question was a silly question. I was recommended her by a friend of mine and so glad we went with her! Will definitely be using her for #2.
