Okay,so I'm a health care professional with 3 science degrees so tell me how i can be getting so much enjoyment out of my MCN's?
I love my baby's little padded bottom. I get a little warm fuzzy satisfied feeling every time i change her nappy. I love seeing the nappies on the clothes line and actually enjoy doing the washing every day! And I can sit and fiddle with the inserts and boosters for ages working out what combination i want for every occasion over the next few days.
Tell me that i'll get over this please!!

Hehe, I could have written that post... only difference is I'm about to graduate from my 4th degree
But look at it this way - you have to change the nappies and do the washing either way, so may as well enjoy, right?

Hehe I used to love seeing them on the line too - but now I hate the washing part... But still love the "goodness" I feel when DD has her clothies on.
We had lost the cloth love for a while, am now trying to get it back - I miss her cute nappies!

They will be successful!! Making nappies is sooooo much fun, especially when you've found minky Most of my DD's nappies are made by me now and it just adds to the excitement of washing them and seeing them on the line, hehehe
And it feels so good to walk past the millions of disposables in the supermarket and know you don't need to buy any

Just bought 2 wetbags I got a small and medium justifying it to myself (and DH!) because the small is good for when we are out for a little while and the medium is good for when we are out for a bit longer....sounded good at the time, but really I just wanted 2 cool designs!!

I'm so jealous, I ordered mine last Friday and am desperate for them to arrive. I'm even disappointed that it's easter as it's 2 more days to wait. I've been fantasising about washing and hanging them out too
Soap nuts and wash bags next on the list!!

I was also really hesitant about the soap nuts but I'm actually quite impressed with them. I wash my nappies with them and they never smell and always come up nicely.

do they keep the nappies soft and fluffy? my itti bittis have started to get a bit stiff and squeaky. maybe i'll give soap nuts a try. what do they smell like?

I've got my soap nuts from Ecomoon http://www.ecomoon.co.nz/index.php?cPath=107_133&osCsid=ebccc2718a7924e93a6b9d7da67f7342 - http://www.ecomoon.co.nz/index.php?cPath=107_133&osCsid=ebccc2718a7924e93a6b9d7da67f7342
But there's lots of websites that sell them so maybe if you're ordering something from a site, see if they sell soap nuts as well to save on delivery. They smell slightly vinegery after a wash, but really there's not much smell at all. Some people add some rosemary oil to their wash to give it a nice smell but I actually like the lack of smell. The other good thing is that you don't need the rinse cycle when washing with soap nuts so you use less water. They work out very cheap because you use each lot 2-3 times before chucking them in your compost.

Sarah, I just read the info on that link that thesaff posted, and it said you just put them in the machine in a little washbag that comes with them. Can't wait to try them out!
I'm not sure about the no rinse thing too, would you just select 'wash' then select 'spin' and bypass the rinse? Do you *have to* not do a rinse? I like doing a rinse cycle before putting the washing powder in to, well, rinse the nappies.

I put the nappies in the machine and do a "rinse cycle" without the nuts then start the machine again with the soap nuts in for the actual wash (hmm, thinking about it now I guess I'm still using the same water as I would for a full cycle). Yeah you put 6-8 in a little bag that comes with the nuts then throw it in. To avoid a rinse cycle on my machine I leave the lid up (it then stops and beeps at me to tell me I've left the lid up) then move the dial around to do a spin cycle.
