ok so from all my other threads im having trouble getting mia off me and eating solids.........and was cruising google to find home based care for her so i can return to work as we are that close to loosing our home........does anyone do home based care? tell me about it? i was thinking this may be the best option for me to do and then i can still have her with me.......but i woulod probly see if i can use my parents pls and this one is unsafe at mo........do you get paid much? i would probly only do it until mia is off me as i need adult stimulation and arguments...........boring arguing with kids cause they always win  ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

I think it woud be such hard work to have someone elses child full time - but if you love that kind of thing - and I think you have to really enjoy it to do it - go for it. I paid $250 a week in auckland - but from that you need to take out tax etc
For me in home care is the only option - I wouldnt put an under 2 in daycare - and I guess if you are prepared to express milk for her it would be fine - as long as she took to only feeding from you at night - since she is only 1 i think that all depends on what Anahera thinks I see you big guy is almost 3 so you would be entitled to the subsidy that kicks in when babes are 3 - even with porse or the likes - or kindy which is obviously way cheaper so will work in your favour financially WINZ may help even more if you are under whatever thresholds they have set ps love the name Anahera - so pretty ------------- http://lilypie.com]

Will she take a bottle from someone else though ? Kids are funny like that - my daughter wont eat apples for me - but she will for her dad - its just a novelty thing I guess (and maybe a survival thing - he cant cook so shed starve otherwise~!) I think daycare and the likes are great for older children - Ty wouldnt be shocked to go full itme since you have had him in a wee bit. Maybe if you start explaining to Mia about what needs to happen and get someone else to give her bottles breast milk while you are there and then not etc you could get her used to the idea ------------- http://lilypie.com]

we started trying at 7mnths...she use to take bottle and breast from 4mtns but was tube feed in hospital and hadnt wanted it since........she have tried every kind of formular .expressed...and cows milk ....ty still has bottle for comfort so thought that would get her going but no........stubborn toad...she is like her mother........still we will keep trying and maybe she may surprise me.we can hope atleast ------------- http://lilypie.com"> http://lilypie.com">

Hi there.
I'm currently a nanny and will be able to go back to my family after having bubs but long term will be looking at becoming a homecare provider. There are a few organisations out there nowadays that will help you with this. I work with Porse and there is also Jemma's, barnados and a few others that aren't sitting on the top of my head!! he he. Parents pay between 5 and 8ish dollars an hour from memory, but there are also other tax breaks that you are entitled to - like payment of phone bill, power, home upkeep. You are allowed 4 under 5yr olds with (i think) only 2 of those being under two. homecare will give us the option of me earning a bit of money (cause we all know it helps!) and still being the primary care giver of our own kids in that key developmental time. Any of the organisations will be able to help you set yourself up and 'advertise' you as well as being a good support! good luck on your decision! |

I do inhome childcare at the moment. I can only have 2 extra children as I already have 2. I work through Bay Family Homebased Childcare and get paid $5 per hr per child. We have a visiting teacher who is available to talk to and comes to visit. There are playgroups they run so you have somewhere to take the kids with other people who are doing the same thing. I started when Joel was 1 year and its been great, was now where ready for daycare and wanted to be at home and the extra money goes straight into our mortgage account and pays for more than half the mortgage. I only have 2 kids @20 hours each (because its free for the parents). The only thing I had to have was first aid and they run a basic education program you have to do but that is the equivelent to playcentres course 1 so pretty easy stuff. They find the families to start the process and they sort out the rates the families pay and I get paid every week without question. They do a free term outing for the kids and you can take along your own kids for free too. There is probably more I can tell you but little people are calling! -------------

I have a spare one from my parents place and the family bring the other. They (the family) have to provide you with safe legal carseats to use, I just happen to have my own spare booster seat so only need one other. -------------

I am also a in home child care provider and I can relate to not having enough space for extra carseats. Can only fit one extra too.
on days where we have more kids the car allows we just stay home. A lot of parents are completely happy with that as you can still do lots of activities at home and most families only put their child in care for two days and they aren't worried if they are two days at home. With pay I get paid $8 an hour per child but when you are a provider your tax is sorted out quite differently (i.e. you pay less because of business cost and subsidies) so its quite good. You could always ring a in home provider agency and talk to them about both options as they will be the best to answer all your question. ------------- http://lilypie.com">
