mikeys teething at the moment, in fact his first tooth came through just yesterday. the problem is he's started waking up about a million times a night (and i am not kidding). it almost seems like he doesn't really need to wake up because he just lies there crying with his eyes shut. he's never really been a great sleeper but this is ridiculous!! can all u experienced lovely mothers tell me, is it just because he's teething or is this a new phase? ------------- |

Mmmmm... well, it might be because of his teeth. If you are this way inclined, adn think it is hurting him, then give him some pamol. At the very least, it'll rule out teething (or pain) as the reason he is waking (if he continues to cry).
Just be aware that the sneaky little buggers tend to take advantage of motherly kindness at times like these. When he has obviously finished teething and is otherwise well, then make sure you get back on top of sleeping routines. Hope that makes some sense. |

Taine has such red cheeks, a bit of a rash, and is chewing on everything, also has a bump under his gums so I know he is teething. I give him some bonjela and pamol before bed and he sleeps really well (hopefully I'm not developing a dependency-prone child). He's also been sleeping all night since we kicked him out of our room, so that might be that too.
Anyway, I always found with my boys, I could tell if it was teething grizzles if I rubbed his gums and he stopped and cooed. I think Jake is getting a set of molars now actually., but am hesitant to put my fingers in his mouth - rather a bitey child. edited to fix all my typos. |

argh i know the pain! lol Ayja is FINALLY GETTING HER FIRST TOOTH!.. (yes .. at 14 months! i kid you not) one of the top middle teeth, and the middle of it is through it's just those damn corners that are causing so much trouble - she is crazy, but it seems to be settling - we do the Pamol and bonjela thing.
Another thing that can help is so wet a face cloth and stick it in a bag in the freezer for half an hour... gives them something nice to chew on that doesn't hurt their mouths too much (not all kids like to chew on the hard teethers) and the cold will numb their gums a little... although it does seem a bit cold to try for too long since it is winter.. but good to remember for summer time. Can also try giving a desert spoon that has been in the fridge to chew on... same kinda thing but sometimes the rubbing can help the teeth cut thru.. good luck, we are just starting to (hopefully) get back to some semblance of normal again.. if this is what she'll be like with each tooth i'd rather her just stay gummy!  ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

I also dont know what is going on with Zaara. She is nearly 9 months old and no teeth yet. Shes been chewing on things since she was 4 months old but now it is getting worse and she is drooling now too....and when she its she practically chews off bread and bread crust...but hello no teeth?? I cant see any either?

I heard that sometimes the teeth can move up and down a bit before coming through, maybe that's what's been happening with Zaara. ------------- |

I agree with what all of the others said. But maybe i would also take to the GP to get ears checked, just incase its not those too.
Its actually really funny (well not funny haha) but all the passages in the face are connected. And alot of times when children are teething they dribble alot and create extra mucus and sometimes their nose runs etc. ( Now dont ask me why because i dont have a clue why it happens)Sometimes kids also get an ear infection when they teeth either due to the exta mucus or something. You would not beleive the amount of kids that would come to the dental clinic that the parents would say they are teething and keeping me up etc. We would give the pamol bonjella advice and also fire them of to the doc to check the ears. And we would get a phone call saying that they had an ear infection. I had the worst Monday ever with Zaara, she was very unhappy!!! Took her to the docs twice in two weeks now...she is fine, ears fine, every thing fine and no teeth but loads of chewing and crying.......I am so tired. Had to take a day off yesterday (hubby as well)...and all she wanted was for me to hold her.... I hope her teeth come thru sooner than later... ------------- http://lilypie.com">

we have had many many days like that with Ayja starting from very early on.. and always endingup with.... no teeth. She is now getting the bottom one to match her little half toothy up the top.. and is back to being #1 grotter again lol. i think they're all gonna start cutting together now. ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

Am sure Zaara will be fine and cut teeth way before Ayja did. lol, my girls make up for having no teeth by having lots of hair... hang on Zaara's got lots of hair too...  nope more than likely she'll teeth soon. Egh. Teeth are evil. Andrew's molars are coming through and he's grumpy,dribbling like an old person, has an upset tummy, isn't sleeping as well and has a runny nose. He's been to the GP to have his ears checked (it's well worth it, because Sean (#1) got ear infections with EVERY tooth that came through).
I've been giving him roasted parsnip and carrot that has been in the fridge to cool - it's soft and yet really cold for the gums. And Pamol and Bonjela...we're not going there with the ibuprofen (kiddie nurifen) because his tummy is already pretty volatile. ------------- |

| the best teething rings for jake were unfortunately my finger. It's amazing how much those little gums can chomp down! we also used to give Jake a raw carrot to gnaw on. later read that you shouldn't in case small bits come off and get lodged down the throat. |

Ana, it's very uncomfortable, and kinda itchy, but not really painful... at least, not painful in the way a headache is painful but rather sore in the way that pins and needles is sore (and just as annoying!)

Well Hannah was bald AND gummy... until today! Just noticed today when I was giving her lunch and the metal spoon hit something hard! It is only just cut through and I had absolutely no idea it was even coming - it sounds like I must be pretty lucky not to have a grumpy baby. And Roksana, Hannah has just started on the biting thing when she is feeding too, so maybe its an age thing? Man its going to hurt when the teeth are actually out.
