My mum.
She surprised me with a sparkling clean oven when we came back from holiday! my mum

When I'm not so lucky, there is a Mr Muscle brand cleaner that is no odour, no fumes which I *think* is safe for asthmatics and works just as well as regular cleaners.
Or, completely chemical free, you can use a baking soda paste, leave on and scrub off after a few hours. Needs more elbow grease though.

My DH has just agreed to get someone in to clean ours - yippee!!! I can't stand the nasty smelling cleaners, tried a baking soda mix and didn't shift a thing. So we are calling in the professionals after I have cooked the roast lamb on Easter SUnday. I can't wait - how sad am I

My hubby did mine today :) :) :)
There is something though about ammonia and warm water left in there for a while to loosen everything, think it was in the babes fantastic tips thread.

Ditto! That ranks up with ironing as a task I refuse to do.

Wish I could just get a new oven every time it needs cleaning. Unfortunetly I don't believe DP will agree. He did it the last 2 times as I was pregnant so I think its my turn next and it needs doing now!

Im totally with you on that one emiloly!! In our local paper theres someone advertising to clean ovens for $25..........so cheap......kinda gotta love the recession for making these horrible tasks cheaper......but my DH wont let me pay anyone to do any form of cleaning in my house and he knows that ovens are something i said right from day dot of knowing him that i just dont do (altho theres been a couple of occassions where ive just had to)

I wish my oven was a wall oven cos man they are just so much easier to clean than getting on hands and knees

I asked my DH if we could take it outside and just hose the cr*p out of it......lol

Mine badly needs a clean after all the baking ive been doing........I think im just gonna have to suck it up and do it myself this time cos DH is really busy with earning us money to keep me from having to go back to work.........OH THE SACRIFICES WE MAKE

Sorry this isnt much help on the original question of what to use....... I get allergies and ecezma so i go for an odourless one too

$25?? I could so pay someone to come over during the day while DP is at work, he'd never know mahaha. I was going to take the car through the car wash and tell him I cleaned it myself as he keeps on at me to do that.

H, im asthamtic too, with contact ezchma. one of the brands makes a low fume oven cleaner and it still is quite strong but no where near as bad.
me and DP compromised. if i clean all the kitchen cupboard fronts with sugar soap then he will clean the oven....apparenly once in 18 months is enough

I used the oven cleaner in Babes tips thread & it worked reasonably well & yeah there is elbow grease involved on the tough spots.

For me the best product I found was the Cinderella oven cleaner. It is also not toxic at all.

What I do is heat the oven up slighly. Then wait half an hour. Spray it and then leave it. After a while. Like another half an hour spray it again and then use those green cleaning pads and the dirt just comes off.

I also use foil at the bottom so no need to scrub just replace. And I have a steamcleaner for when visitors use my oven and mess stuff all over it.

Also I find the job doesnt take long at all if you do it at least every 3 months or so.
