OK, so I"ve called the mw I'd really like- Friday morning and this morning and left 2 messges...she hasn't gotten back to me yet and so I'm not sure if I should wait a bit longer for her to contact me or should I just start phoning others? I'm really not sure of my dates so my ticker reflects the earliest that I am- I could be up to a week more pg though so don't wanna leave getting a mw tooo long IYKWIM?  But then I don't want to appear pushy. And I also don't want to have another lined up only to have this first lady get back to me and agree to take me on!

Arrgh advice please!!!! Starting to stress, I know its gonna be tricky getting a mw in December (althoughEDD  is prob 1st/2nd Dec, not Xmas lol).

TIA

Depends what you said in the msg.

Is it a mobile number? I would probably txt as well but that's me

Completely understand how you don't want to leave it too long.

Maybe leave a msg and say, You have left a couple of messages now and you are concerned about getting a mw as you are due late Nov early Dec and know that this is a busy time of year. Could she please either call or txt on 02xxxxx to let you know as soon as possible. Apologies for all the msgs?

Emmecat I would say there's no harm in ringing a few others JIC. Hopefully the midwife gets back to you soon. She might have had a busy few days with birthing so hasn't had a chance yet. The first contact is important so perhaps she wants to ring when she can fully focus on you!

When I did my ringing around some of them took 3-4 days to ring me back. It is frustrating waiting I know!

There's no harm in arranging to meet a few midwives before you choose one. Hopefully you get to one you want though

I would say ring her again this afternoon if you haven't heard from her. I'm sure they're used to hormonal pushy preggy ladies

She may have had the weekend off and that is why she hasn't called. You could ring a few other mws just to see who is available while you wait for her to get back to you

Does she work as part of a clinic?
Group of other MW's, the MW I wanted was on leave for a week and I had to wait to meet with her, organised the meeting via the receptionist at the Midwife clinic.  I was happy to wait for her.

In saying that there was one group of midwife's I contacted and never heard anything, in the end I went with someone else. Sometimes the 'best' midwife's aren't always the ones that will work for you.

Oh yay well the mw I wanted called and left a msg on my home phone while I was out this morning and said she'd been crrok- was still crook adn could I call back thurs/Fri but that yes she'd be happy to take me on and she'd pencil me in (as long as I don't have any complications she should know about...I don't think I do?! ) So hopefully we get on well IRL too. There are 2 others I have met and would be ok to have too just this one comes highly reccomended and that generally seems to work well. Thanks for your replies...glad I'm not the only 'pushy' one!
