I have a question about what stretching pains feel like.

I am only 4 weeks 2 days, possibly more waiting for dates to be confirmed at a scan in 2 weeks.

For about the last week or so since even before I found out, I have had this feeling in my abdomen, it's not a pain, it's not sore, but it's just kind of tight and I am very aware of it almost all of the time.

What I find weird about it is that most of the time it's to the left of my abdomen... never on the right. It's just a feeling in the left side of my abdomen.

Is this what stretching feels like or might this be something else? Do I need to be worried? As I said, it doesn't hurt. It's uncomfortable but it doesn't hurt.

I get stabby pains separately but they are not bad either.

This feeling is not at all like AF coming or AF pain as I have seen some people mention.

Sorry if I am being paranoid, this is my first and I really have no idea what to expect

Any advice appreciated

This sounds what I had around 5/6 weeks and was more of a pulling/stretching feeling over abdomen later . I didn't know in my first 12 weeks that uterus etc expanding for two but people feel this with one bub as well so don't panic! I never felt anything before BFP but then I tested very early too

Its hard not worry but try not too I know that easier said than done. Different people seem to feel or describe different things and symptoms can change with different pregnancies apparently too.

Thanks heaps Jules that makes me feel better.

I think it might also have to do with constipation (sorry if TMI) as its definitely aggravated if I haven't been able to go

Im not worried as I think it would be worse if it really hurt or something

I had stabbing pains on my left side early on in pregnancy too ( about 3.5 weeks) was always on my left, figured it was just bub implanting nice and deep. My first few scans showed bubs was on the left side so it made sense GL!

You might just be feeling everything still planting and settling especially if its all on one side. If its not a bad pain and you're not bleeding you could assume it is within 'normal' realms of pregnancy discomfort I'm sure.

Congratulations and good luck for the following 8mths

Babyg its not even painful at all, its more just an awareness, discomfort sort of thing but definitely not sore so I think you're right, its probably ok.

No bleeding or anything at all.

Thanks heaps :) Congrats on your pregnancy also

I had stretching pains I guess that's what they were across the middle of my back - beneath where my bra strap fits, figured it was my muscles and things stretching to accommodate my growing boobs.

I have had some nasty shooting nerve pains up my hips - they're a bit ouchie - I've got clicky hips to start with.

I had similar pains when I was 5-6 weeks. Well, not pains really just a tightening, stretching, slightly uncomfortable feeling. It freaked me out too, but have so far had a normal pregnancy, so nothing to worry about!
And congrats! It's my 1st too... such an exciting time!

I had this - it freaked me out a bit and was quite offputting at times but I'm now 15 weeks and things are fine. Good luck with your pregnancy.

It could be an ovarian cyst - it was for me.

I was having the same feeling that you were, and at my first ultrasound at 5w4d, the..ahh geez I don't know what you'd call her..ultrasound lady...said "Do you realise you have a very large ovarian cyst?"

She said that it could even cause discomfort when peeing or pooing.

Shelly did it cause problems for the pregnancy or was it just treated as a separate thing?

I dont think its anything to worry about as it's eased off since I wrote this message, only happens occasionally and not hurting

Having a scan next week so Ill find out anyway

Not so far, I only had my scan 7 days ago at 5w4d.

It's made sex painful though :(, everything feels so touchy down there.

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome so I am used to them, they usually go away after a while.

Hi guys just letting you know that I had a scan today and all is good, it showed baby implanted on the left so that must be the reason for the random awareness on my left side. So if this happens to anyone else don't worry too much :)
