We are in the process of getting a passport for Jude and have been trying to take passport photo's of him. We've got the neutral expression, looking straight at the camera etc but we cannot seem to get a photo of him doing everything else right but with his mouth closed. He's not smiling, just has it a bit open.
Does this matter? Are they a bit more lenient for infants? It was an effort and took quite a few photo's and different photo sessions to get this one, really don't want to have to do it all over again! But also really don't want to get it sent back a few weeks down the track telling us to do it over - as that will be getting closer and closer to our travel date. I went & got a photo place to do them for me. Their head has to be a particular size in the photo as well. They'll know what you can get away with. ------------- Kel http://lilypie.com">

Went to the photo place and they said it was better to do it at home and bring the photo in. (He said infants generally don't like being photographed in the shop, or it was harder or something to that effect - perhaps it was because he didn't want to spend a huge amount of time trying to get an acceptable photo. We took Josh into the photo shop and got a good pic 2nd attempt at about 8mths but he never use to smile if i got the camera out -------------

I feel for you. We got passport photos done on the way back from the birthing unit. Try getting a new born awake, mouth closed and staring at the camera. lol. 7 Months would be worse as they are so much more active.
We went to the pharmacy to get ours done. Something about girls in their 20's with a cute baby that works in this situation. If you are doing it yourself are you lying him on a white sheet etc. Maybe give him a piece of fruit to suck on to get the mouth closed. Not so good if he is lying watch he doesn't choke. We went through all this photo drama trying to get Callum's passport sorted. The lovely lady at the NZ Consulate here said to send the photo we had (in our case, we couldn't get C's ears to show lol) and get the application process started as - if we were lucky - they would just take the photo but if not they still start processing the application but get you to send another pic.
They never asked for another photo either 
PS for NZ pp photos, the background isn't allowed to be white  which is a major PITA if you're doing it at home!------------- SJ Callum - Dec 2008 Daniel - Oct 2010 |

My daughter was one week old when we had her passport photos taken, and surprisingly the office accepted a photo of her with mouth open and tongue out lol

Chelsea was 2wks old when we got her passport photo taken... First we went to the pharmacy, and she was fine while lying down but as soon as the camera was in her face she'd start screaming. So they suggested trying at home. So we lay her on a pale green blanket and took 50million photos. None perfect but they told us to send in a few and they'd hopefully be able to use one of them. We got both kids done at a photo shop. Jake was about 6-7 months and Morgan was about 4.5/5 months. From memory they had to take a couple of pics but it only took a few mins. No problems with them being accepted. I'd go to another store if I was you, as they sound useless where you went! Both times we were told they would re-do it for free if there was a problem too. ------------- DS (5yrs) and DD (3yrs) |

Strange? We got daniels NZ passport about 6 months ago & it was a white background??? We took him to a photo shop & they had a white bean bag to lean him up against & took as many photos as needed til it was right. We took Jackson into Rabbit Photo when he was 6 weeks old and about 10 million attempts later we got an ok one. But if you can do it at home, thats probably going to save you time and potential heartache.
After we sent Jacksons application away I realised his mouth was open a tad and freaked they wouldnt accept it, but they did ------------- Our Angel July 08  Gone but not forgotten
And to complete our family, our princess has arrived

I got my little guy's done when he was a little over a year old, it got sent back twice.
First time for not being able to see his ears and second time for having his mouth slightly open. In the end they accepted one where he was sucking on a raisin! Oh and we got them done at the pharmacy too, no charge for the repeat photos. ------------- Mel, Mummy to E: 6, B: 4 and:
