We always did it on sunday morning as kids, and last year, we didn't give DS one as he was only 5 months old. This year, he's spending sat night at his nana and grandads, so I'm not sure when we will give him it.
Personally, I love chocolate, so anytime's good! LOL

Sunday morning.   I always thought it was then as that is the end of Lent, and we'd normally have given up something like chocolate and wouldn't have been able to eat them until then anyway!

yes Sunday Morning is right. Good Friday is when Jesus died, and Sunday when he was alive again, the eggs symbolise new life and hot cross buns when he died

Thanks for that info Susie, I was wondering the other day where eggs and a bunny come into it. Still don't get the bunny, but the eggs make sense. Although why chocolate?? (not that I'm complaining )

As an adult - within 24 hours of buying them, then curse yourself as you have to go out 'again' to buy more.

We used to get them on Good Friday then we'd have all weekend to eat them.

Dh is getting his on Sunday, followed by hot cross buns for breakfast.

Yeah as an adult I can now buy my own chocolate and then I get to eat it straight away. nom nom

As far as I know, all those things have kinda been tacked onto easter over the years. I'm a Christian, and don't see any particular religeous significance to them, although I know some do (Suzie explained the symbolism for those who do see them that I way, pretty well, I think. I have an idea that the bunny's a symbolism of life too... bunnies breeding like they do and all... but I'm not sure). Despite the fact that buns and eggs don't have any meaning for me, I still enjoy both! No idea where the chocolate came from, but have no complaints about it

The bunnies are a symbol of new life (breed like rabbits) and the start of spring, were upside down so seasons are back to front, Easter along with being a festival for christianity and passover for Judiasm is also the start of spring and the end of winter in the northern hemisphere, and was celebrated by a lovely feast - after a hard winter.

The chocolate thing is to do with lent as your supposed to give up luxuries for that time.
