I got on really well with my midwife too - I have just sent her an invite to Joey's first bday actually . We gave her some lovely pralines, red wine and a card with a photo of the three of us. I guess pretty boring but she was thrilled anyway

Well I think Chocolates will be the go with my MW, when I was bleeding at 16 weeks and went into hospital my step mum bought me in some chocolates and I'd stay up late at night since I hate hospitals and the damn alarms kept me up and just eat chocolates.
Then I had the same poor old MW come in checking up on me... poor old darl, she must be in her 50's by now and she had worked 24 hours the day before and got called in 3 hours after she went home because they were short of staff so she had to come do another 24 hours.
I really REALLY liked her, whenever she came in I had a whole heap of caramello and other sorts of chocolates piled on the table for her. and she loved it.
I'm a boring old chocolate eater, I just like te normal chocolate, not dark, not white... and I dont like anything with it, like fruit and nuts or caramel or other flavours... im just a plain cadbury chocolate girl... boring aye.

i was wondering if its 'appropriate' to give a gift to the midwife, but seems it is - which is great, becasue my m/w is FANTASTIC, and I can't imagine not getting her something to thank her!  I think I'll give her a photo of bub's and something else... it's going to be SAD not seeing my m/w again.... til #2 of course ;)

How funny, i like my midwife, and liked my first aswell but Im not sad about not seeing her again or anything. Also everyone is talking about giving them pictures of baby where as Im thinking, why would my midwife want a picture of my baby.

I just dont see that side of her. She is really nice and everything dont get me wrong but she is also very business like, one of the best midwives around and very very popular, like you have to book her the minute you have sex and might be pregnant. Its like she thinks ok you have had the baby, all is fine with you so next lady please, not a touchy feely oh your baby is so beautiful type person which is why its so hard to think of something to get her.

I am going to be awfully sad to say goodbye to my M/W again I cried the last time she came to see us with Alan. How ever that was partly because other then my Inlaws she was the first and only person I knew for ages in the town. She is also a very friendly loving person so it is hard not to get attached. so will probaly invite her to thing's like baby dedication etc she also came to our wedding that was before we knew we were having this baby.

I cried when my m/w discharged us with Maya,I guess coz she had been there since the day I found out I was pregnant. I wasn't particularly close to her, I think it was just the whole end of the pregnancy journey thing.

Anyways, I gave her a card and some chocolates, and a copy of a scrapbook page I did of newborn Maya. Funny thing is when I went to see her when I found out I was preg with the twins three years later, up on the wall in her office amongst thousands of other pics is the page I gave her!
