I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and still in my sports bras and can still fit one normal bra from pre-pregnancy (they were both big enough to let me grow, but I haven't gotten much bigger anyways). They are both underwire though which I've read you shouldn't wear?
When should I go get fitted for a proper maternity bra? One of the shops down here has 50% off I saw in the paper...
Seriously, they need to give you a booklet to say when you need to do this kinda stuff

Whenver you want basically, some people go into them early, some later, just depends what is comfy. I'm staying in my underwire as long as poss cause I dont like maternity bras (cause I got giganta boobs). The later you get fitted though the more likely you are to have the right size

Feeling you on the giganta boobies
Mine are starting to get a wee bit tight around the ribs, but the next lot of clips are too loose, lol. So I might put up with them for a bit tighter for a wee bit longer, then go to looser clip and leave getting fitted until later!!

I brought prenancy bras once my normal ones didn't fit properly anymore which was around 20 weeks. The pregnancy ones I brought had flexiwire which meant they still had a bit of support there. Then at about 35 weeks I brought maternity bras which I am still wearing now DD is 5 months although I probably need to go and get refitted again.

The general rule of thumb is 36 weeks, they say that is the size you'll get back to once everything settles down.

By maternity bras do you mean feeding bras? I was wondering the same thing myself. I just went bra shopping this past wknd (was popping out of my little A cups) and had to go up two sizes to a C- I was like wtf are these lol. No wonder I was popping out. I got a really nice soft cup with no underwire.

I starting wearing them pretty early on as well, as found the underwire was uncomfortable and if I was going to buy a bigger size I might as well buy a maternity one. Luckily got a few good ones a sale through Belly Beyond and Breastmates for about $20 each.

Yeah I mean feeding bras... Unfortunately we can't afford for me to keep buying bras as I change in size
So I'll be getting 2/3 bras fitted and hope like heck that'll do me...
While I'm at it, how many bras do you guys recommend having? I'll probably do 2/3 bras for the day, and 2 bra singlets for sleeping in...?

Aww, looks like I drew the short straw, i'm sure i'm smaller than I was pre-preg
Anyway, I started wearing nursing bra's a week or so before bub was born. I had 7 of them and a couple of singlets and found in the early months of BF they usually didn't even last half a day due to leaks. So its good to have a few going IYKWIM

Hey kebekat I'm a size G and I have a couple of the triumph maternity bra's and I find them really good to wear. Don't feel too bad at all and I feel supported enough. I didn't think I would be wearing maternity bra's until bubs was born but have been pleasantly surprised by these ones. One catch though is that they are on the expensive side but worth every penny

Buttersmum - I hate all maternity bras I've decided. I've tried quite a few with Daniel and Jared and hated the lot lol... including triumph.. they all give me a uniboob that sweats and gets irritated and when I'm in them my back gets sore from lack of support. I'm staying in underwire as long as humanly possible and then I'm gonna rip the wire out of a couple of my older bras and use those. At least I don't tend to have as much of the uniboob problem with that.

I got my maternity bras 2 days before DD was born lol (she was 3wks early). I'd heard that around 36wks is a good time to get fitted. I didn't have a special fitting tho - just went into Farmers and tried a couple on (although I am on the "smaller" side )

I have 4 maternity bras and 3 singlets for at night/summery days. I found that I leaked lots in the early days so to save changing my bra all the time I found some pads that I changed instead. The pidgeon ones work best for me as they won't move. And then I have some PUL backed ones from TM which are great.

ive been in maternity bras from early on this time cos i have them and they are more comfy for me but im not in that large. Last time i started about 28ish weeks and the ladies that fitted me said the bras allowed for size increases and decreases so i shouldnt need to get any others and i didnt. I was advised with my first to start wearing them as soon as possible cos underwire can damage the milk ducts and you can end up with lots of infection issue when you start feeding which happened to a girl i worked with.

Well I went into H and Js cos apparently they were having this big sale, and couldn't find anything that was actually on sale!
Will have to keep a eye out for the next sale, and go in then... Hopefully its not too far away, don't think I'll fit my bras for much longer until they get uncomfortable!!

I hear you on the support thing on your shoulders kebekat. When I first wore mine I found my shoulders ached a wee bit but then I dunno its like my shoulders beefed up cause I don't seem to have that problem any more............maybe my tummy is helping to support them haha. I still wear my underwires but they are starting to get slightly uncomfortable............I was told by 2 dr's that underwires are fine right through as long as they fit properly and don't cut into your breasts underneath so I say wear them if thats what us big girls need!!!!

I just took the underwires out of my old bras, it seemed to make them a little roomier and meant I didn't have to go shopping until I was getting feeding bras - definitely don't leave it too late tho! I put it off and only had 2 feeding bras when Lauren was born, would have been nice to have a couple more as I couldn't find the time to go out and shop for awhile after that. I've been wearing feeding bra's for like 18 months now, lol and will be for probably another 18 months.
