Hi everyone
Im 6 and a bit weeks pregnant and I have noticed on and off that my heartbeat has been going fast at times. Not often just here and there.
Last night it was going quite fast and doing some flutters in my chest at times.
I have read that this is normal because of the increased work your heart has to do but I have also read it's not good so Im a little confused.
Weighing up whether to go to the GP today.
Does this happen to anyone else? Do I need to be concerned?
Thanks for your help

Do you have a MW yet? If so ask her about it, if not just give your GP a ring and ask them or a nurse if its anything to be worried about.

Mine did that a lot if a lay down. I would mention it to your MW if you have one and just keep an eye on it.
That said if you have any heart issues or family history I'd take a quick trip to the GP or at least call my GP.

I had this through out my pregnancy. Heart palpitations are pretty common in pregnancy, let your midwife know though. I was told there is nothing to worry about and it's just due to the extra blood you have whilst being pregnant because your heart has to work harder to pump the blood. But if you start having pains in your chest or get dizzy then pop down to your doctor or go to A&E. And like first said if you have family history then go to your GP.

Thanks for all your help. I went to the GP today just to check and she said same as the above, it's just your heart having to do extra work and maybe being a bit anxious about being pregnant and it all going well. So I feel better knowing that and knowing other people have had it too, so thanks for the replies
