Just out of sheer curiosity - and I'm not sure if it's just a 'first time mum' thing or what - but did any of you have quite a drop in appetite after you had bub? Mine hasn't disappeared entirely, but my interest in food sure isn't what it used to be, even compared to before I was pregnant. Ultimately it's a good thing, because I used to really struggle with portion sizes (would pile way too much onto the plate and eat it all and then some!).

Im finding it easier because I have seen the weight coming off in reasonably big amounts so its motivation to keep eating the healthy diabetes diet I was on when preggie. Hubby is on day shift at the moment so I have to cook at night rather than have rubbish and pick all night plus I have been walking most days. In saying that Im sitting here eating chocolate but thats my weekend treat and I have been for an hour long walk today.

I remember being like that with Paige..I think it was the whole birth aftershock thing...BUT my love ...just like me...if you are feeding little Erin you need to get eating good healthy portions regularly and drinking masses and masses to keep up that milk supply! Especially when she has her wee growth spurts!

PLUS you need to keep up your energy...

Probably nothing you didnt know anyway!!

LOL I eat as much as I can manage (three meals a day and the odd snack) and definitely try to balance it reasonably well food groups wise, AND keep up my water - that's the other thing, I notice more when I'm thirsty now, and so try to head it off by keeping a sipper bottle handy at all times. Thanks for the reminder though Kelly

I'm the total opposite - I can't STOP eating Funny thing is though, that I have lost sooooo much weight, around 19kgs so far, and weigh less than I did pre-pregnancy. I'm not super skinny or anything, as I ended up putting on close to 16kgs during pregnancy - 6kgs in the last 2 weeks (overdue), but I'm wondering why it's coming off so fast. Joshua is a voracious feeder which may have something to do with it... I'm certainly not complaining though!!

I know what you mean. when mikey was born i just would forget to eat. i found that if i made sandwiches and put them in the fridge along with cut up fruit in containers it was alot easier to remember to eat because it was all ready to go.

It's not that I'm forgetting to eat, but it's more that the 'strength' of my appetite is waaaaaaaaay smaller.

As long as you are eating well and healthy and feeling full its gotta be a good thing!! Then the weight (if you have much to lose) will fall off nicely! And thats one less thing to worry about!

Yep Jax, that's what I was like too, I remembered to eat I just didn't want it because I wasn't hungry. I had to make myself eat anything for the first few months after Joey was born!

I'm trying my best not to think about it much, since ultimately it is all irrelevant when I look at my beautiful, healthy little girl

Although I did feel a *little* self conscious when I went out today, wore a somewhat fitting tshirt and had to try and hide my jelly belly with my jacket

It was good to get some fresh air even though the weather is miserable, plus (as dumb as this sounds) find out that I haven't forgotten how to drive or interact with salespeople in shops ! LOL

lolol, I found my appetite dropped a heap after i had Paris.. and i got really run down cos i didn't feel like eating.. i mean i ate the 3 meals etc and was drinking but for me i had to end up forcing myself to have a milo and a piece of toast after i had fed her if it as in between times or at night time, otherwise i would get really low blood sugar. I think the hardest thing for me has been getting out of the frequent snacks mindset now that I have finished feeding Ayja... especially if i want to fit my dress nicely lol.

I had a drop in appetite after I had Andrew. Didn't want to eat anything for a few days. My MW said that eating just a little bit is better than nothing - think when MS was around. A piece of toast every few hours was better than nothing.

My Midwife actually was telling me this the other day - I was saying taht my appetite has SOARED and I am a virtual food vacume cleaner at the moment, and she said yes you appetite will go up and down, she said usually you eat heaps till the birth and then after you experience a drastic drop in appetite but taht it is all normal and it does come back!
I had to laugh cos the way I feel now I can't IMAGINE walkign past a pice of cake or not eating every 2 hours or so!

It's quite bizarre actually, for the first 24 hours or so after the birth, I was STARVING. Then the hormones kicked in I guess and my appetite shrunk, and I really had to put thought into eating, mind you there wasn't a lot to it at that stage since the hospital was providing all my meals.

i was just saying to DH last night that i have no appetite at all. i have to force myself to eat something and could quite easily survive the day on breakkie alone and maybe a piece of fruit in the arvo.
will be great if it keeps up like that after bubs, but not so great now!
