ugh original birthday plan for DH went askew so am giving in to suprise sky package...
he wants - discovery and obviously cartoons! big kid he is!! so we have big house and three tvs to consider as options...i could live with it on two (one up and one downstairs!) - can you watch different channels if i get two decoders? or do u still have to watch the same?? i cant work that out from the website! if i can get two decoders to watch 2 channels Im going to give it to mum as mothers day pressie at same time - she is nagging me too!!! (we live extended family!) and any other suggestions for me...Im thinking basic package 2 decoders??? |

Yes you can get multi room 2 decoders in the same house you can watch different channels on each. If your mum lives with you I think you can get another decoder on the bill for her. Give them a call if you can and see how many decoders you can get on the multi room deal. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

You can definitely get two decoders in one house and watch different channels. A few years ago we lived under landlords and we were the second decoder. We don't have movies here, just sports as there are about 20boys here (ok exaggeration but 5 live here and there are numerous others that basically live here). I only really watch 1, 2, 3 and prime so its not worth it for me. | We've got the basic package for DH's sport and we also have movie channels which are a COMPLETE waste of time. We have MySky (which I can't recommend highly enough) and I go through the whole week of movies every Sunday to set them to record and I usually only ever record one or two. They continually repeat them for months. We keep meaning to get rid of it. |

| Yip with 2 decoders you can watch different channels on different tvs. Ours is split, we have one decoder but we have it on two tv's (not legit but it works). So we just take the remote to bed with us and watch it in there too. |

I think it is $25 extra per month to have each additional decoder. I program my viewing for the evening then either watch it in bed or the lounge using just one decoder. DD will switch to TV mode using bunny ears or arial to watch something different in her room but then can only get the free channels.
IMHO the basic package is enough, you get all the cartoon and documentary channels and vibe, the box and the comedy channel play the same types of programs that are on 2 and 3. The movies are quite expensive for what you get, far cheaper to rent DVD's especially if you take advantage of dollar days. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Yep as they said, multiroom is $25 a month extra and you can watch what you want on another decoder. We piggyback one of the decoders so I can watch TV in bed - you're allowed to do this. The Sky dude even set it up for me. The 2nd decoder is in my mums room which she pays for. We're just about to upgrade to MySky for $15 extra a month. $99 installation fee however! Normal installation on a new sky connection is $49. ALSO, if you have a friend with sky, when you ring up, tell Sky that your friend told you to get it and you'll both get a $50 credit on your respective accounts! We have mysky down stairs & mysky HD upstairs & movies & sports costs about $110ish a month. When we got mysky installed it costs $600 so at today's price it is well worth it.
I would only have mysky as you can tape programs which is great for ids & I don't miss my favs & you can look up to see what is on so don't need tv guide anymore, lol. |

I was soooooo reluctant to get sky too and fought it for months.... I wouldn't go back now! we have mysky HD in one room and multiroom in the second lounge for the kids.... I totally agree with littlered the movie channel is not worth it... I would be lucky to watch one a fortnight. I keep meaning to cancel it and keep forgetting....
How do ya piggyback on one of the decoders peanut? I'd love to have it in the bedroom ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

They can just wire up the other TV's in the house to the sky channel. You can run it through TV using the arial or through SKY and watch what has been programmed. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

thanks all.
a friend told me she got some info in her letterbox about a super14 package??? but threw it away before i mentioned it....does anyone have that one to tell me what that says????? i am booking it this week so wondered if that was worth it before i went ahead.... so far have decided on basic with an extra decoder....we dont have time to watch more than that! LOL! |
