It seems impossible to find simple black straight or bootleg pants that aren't either cargos or high shine (current PP range).

Does anyone know of anywhere good to get them? I don't like egg cos they're overpriced and their fabric is often crap and I really don't want to pay a fortune for something I'll wear for only 6 months.

I got mine at the Warehouse!! Not my usual shop for clothes - esp maternity, but had a high waist - just like the pp ones and not too shiney - good luck on your search. Its crazy, I have a work uniform and the company that makes it does not have a maternity range , which considering our staff are mainly females 20 to 40 yrs is unreal!!

ohhh i got mine from PP on sale, they are just the normal black ones. I wonder if they will have some at their "factory" shop in East Tamaki? Are you from AKL?

I second the warehouse - was surprised, but found some nice black pants that looked better than my PP or Egg ones...for $7.50!

Also you could try looking for Egg pants on TM - just have a cheeky try on in store so you know what size you are

I got good work pants from the PP store in Westgate on special - but I also bought some work pants from Postie plus - not maternity, but they had an elastic waist and were perfect with long tops for work.

I vote Glassons!!! I got a couple of pairs from there - they're like yoga pants with the foldover waist band, but work pants from the waist down.

I got underbelly pants from the warehouse that I wore up to about 7 months, then when they felt a bit tight I just wore Glassons yoga pants to work. By that stage I really didn't care what I looked like! I figured as long as my shoes looked okay and my top was reasonable, nobody noticed I was basically wearing track pants to work.

My favourite ever maternity pants were a black pair of dress pants I got from JK when I was pregnant with the gremlins (sorry, prehistoric I know!). They were about $50 from memory, but I literally wore them til they fell apart.

I'm not using maternity pants either. I have luckily been able to use my pre-preggy work pants and fold the top down so they sit on my hips and under my bump. Coupled with a belly band and long tops you wouldn't know

Yeah...I used belly bands up until just a few weeks ago. They still work, but my tops are a bit shorter now (@ 29 weeks) so aren't as easy to cover...belly bands are kinda over priced for what they are, but cheaper than a few new pairs of pants....

Now I'm mainly wearing the glassons yoga track pants in the weekend, and for work either a pair or low waisted pants from glassons that sit below my bump or a pair from pp. (I know what you mean about the shiny type material...it's not my choice, but for temporary wearing they are fine and were on special for $25)...

I need to go looking for a pair of black work pants... I really struggle finding stuff that's long enough so I'm not looking forward to shopping...

For the taller ladies out there try tall by design www.tallbydesign.co.nz they have a pair of yoga-ish pants which look the go...

Oh and for tops, long flowy baby doll dresses are always good and double as a top. I had one from oz I wore until I couldn't. It's good being heavily preg in winter as you have your toaster and you can layer and do the dress over tights/pants thing.

You can also get away with the long knitted jumper and tights and the belt over your bump

I've got my sister's old maternity pants, they're from Topshop in Ireland and they're gorgeous. You can't even tell they're maternity. No big elastic waist. They're lovely and low cut with an internal elastic built into the waistband. Look like regular pants.
You can shop Topshop UK online and they deliver to NZ.

Thanks for the ideas. I'd forgotten about KMArt. Ended up going to the house of G. Salesgirl looked very confused when I marched in and said "do you have black work pants with a stretchy waistband" - but got them for me :) One leg hemmed, one to go ....

I love my black pants from Glassons - they are very comfy the band on them is great, I might actually need to go and buy a pair in the next size up.

Yep, I was stoked to be a size 10 (only taken 2 years + to get there) but I'm sure it won't last long!

I got the Glassons pants when I was preg with Isla. Had to get them at 8wks cause my bump started to appear pretty early on and I grew out of my work pants but they lasted me right throughout pregnancy. I think they stretched as I stretched! lol They were a size 8 so I was pretty stoked to still be in size 8's at 42wks preg and carrying an 11lb 8oz baby! lol I most definitely was not still a size 8 by then.... I think the stretchy waistband helped me out a bit
I can still wear the pants now. The waistband is a bit baggy but the butt area fits perfectly. I just fold the waist band over a few times... it holds my marshmellow belly in now
