Hi all,

Just a quick question, this is my first month charting and I have found that for the past 5 days my temp has been the same (36.4C)

Does that mean anything? I don't think my thermometer is broke, I got it less than a month ago.

My chart (YAY fertility friend) is saying that this rise in temp was just after ovulation OV was 35.8C now I'm all about the 36.4C.

Any ideas on this would be grand. This is our third month TTC (but first charting)

Thanks heaps.

Becca

I copied and pasted this from the How to chart basics thread (worth a read btw, did you know that semen floats ? makes sense, being swimmers and all )

Temperature Taking – Each morning as soon as you wake you will roll over and take your temperature.

There are 2 places that your temperature can be taken from, one is orally the other is vaginally. Most women prefer to temp orally. The only time some women temp vaginally is if they have what is referred to as, “Rocky Temperatures” this is where there is no stable temperature and they vary drastically day to day. (PLEASE NOTE that sleeping with your mouth open is NOT going to significantly deter you from reading your chart for ovulation. This is commonly looked at as a bad thing for charting when it is not!)

When you have chosen your preferred method of temping, you will take your temperature first thing in the morning, at the SAME TIME every morning including weekends (the only leeway for this is half an hour each side at the VERY most). This MUST be after AT LEAST 3 hours of solid sleep. Please make sure that you DO NOT get out of bed when temping as this will increase your temperature as your body moves about. We want you to take your RESTING temperature.

If you ever get what is called "flat temperatures", (the same temperature over a period of time) there are 2 reasons why this could be happening;

Your thermometer is broken or has flat batteries which need to be changed (I check mine on DH)
Your hormones are balanced and steady

Apart from those it’s nothing to worry about.

Hey Becca

What kinda thermometer are you using, is it a BBT thermometer? They are more accurate... ie you temp might be 36.42 but if your not using a BBT it will just say 36.4.

Come join us in The Charting Girls thread!!!!

Thanks to both of you.
I will keep up with the charting with this thermometer this month, then see if I can upgrade to a better thermometer next month if needed.

Cheers :)
