I'm a Mum-to-Be trying to decide which buggy/pram to buy!
I'm quite keen on the Mountain Bugger Urban Jungle, which has an additional carry cot you can buy to have front facing for the first six months. There seems to be many cheaper (and more expensive) brands so I'm just wondering what other parents have used and liked. Some think $700 is far too much to spend... Any thoughts/suggestions?? |

Love my mountain buggy  Just have one of the old Urban ones. I never bothered with a carry cot because you can't transfer them into the car asleep in it & they really aren't in it that long especially if you are using a capsule.------------- Kel http://lilypie.com">

I have a Mountain Buggy Urban Elite (bought off TM 2nd hand for less than half price with heaps of accessories. Still looks new though!). We used the universal carseat clip on it - that was awesome in the early days as we could just transfer him from car to buggy no worries at all which is great when you are a new mum and you would rather not disturb your sleeping wee one.. Hardly use the buggy at all anymore though as we usually just carry Jude in one of our baby carriers - far easier. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

We have the mountain buggy swift. I love it. It isnt as long or as wide as the urban. Hi, just wanted to say I got it wrong to start with and it ended up being an expensive lesson! Maybe if you have a Baby on the Move in your area contact them as they are great to deal with. Also make sure you can get the pram up and down easy and it fits in the boot!
I brought a pram that the capsule could snap into, so I was able to get bubs in and out of the car without have to transfer her in the actual pram, soon though I'd had enough of the bulky pram and hired a Snap and Go ($10 per month) and I used this for the first 12 months, then brought another new Mountain Buggy and ended up selling straight away on TM it was no better than the original pram, and then we got a small stroller and haven't looked back. |

I love my Phil and Teds Sport, we've had it for a few years now so there are newer models (Dash?). The reason we chose it over the Mountain Buggy was the ability to take 2 children later on. Also MB are owned by P&T now. If you are going to walk lots then it's probably worth paying a bit more to get what suits you best.
I agree with Hannibal about trying it in the car and collapsing it etc. Some of them are SO heavy to lift into the boot and don't always fit into smaller cars. Once my daughter was sitting up I got a wee fold up stroller for round the shops but we still use the P&T heaps for walks. We were just about to buy a P and T dash and then found out that most of the P and T range get claims on the 1 year warranty for faults......which is fine if it happens in the first year/and you buy new.
We have a Mutsy pram. We bought it second hand as new it's around $2,000 and there is no way I'm spending that much on a pram. But it's definatley worth spending and buying a real good quality one. Our Mutsy 4 rider comes with all the extra bits and pieces that you have to buy additional with P and T and Mountain buggy brands. We got the pram, the pram seat,the bassinet, the capsule (Casual Play brand - its the only capsule on the market that fully reclines), the capsule adaptors so you can put the capsule on the pram, the capsule base, the toddler skate board, the rocker adaptor for the pram seat and this also is a 'highchair' if you want, and the dinner tray for the pram seat. We got this all for $1000. BARGAIN! oh and nappy bag and rain covers for pram seat and bassinet. We can buy the double pram seat new for $250 so it will last us for all our kids. Also it was the only pram and capsule/base that fit in my car - I have a very small car and boot. Make sure you test fit any item you buy to make sure it fits in your car first! You can only buy Mutsy at Global Baby in Epsom and Albany, Auckland. I have a Nissan March so have limited boot space and I am a weakling therefore criteria for us was compact & lightweight - we have two prams and are really happy with both of them.
Snap n go wheels - as someone else mentioned - you can get a range of capsules that click into them - they were about $150 to purchase or you can hire them - I figured if we saved them for #2 we would be better off buying them. They have been one of the BEST purchases we have made. They are perfect for mall runs, quick visits to supermarket etc they are very lightweight and compact and we could not have done without them. Mountain Buggy swift with the bassinet - compact, great for walks - will get more use out of it once DS outgrows the snap n go which is not far away with the rate he is growing! ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

Hi guys - thanks for the replies! I think we've decided on the Mountain BUGGY Urban Jungle.
I'm really taken with how quickly and easily it folds down, and it fits easily in our boot. Only weights 11kg, which is heavier than the Swift, but I like how sturdy it is (for not much difference in price). I think we'll look at getting the carrycot attachment too - maybe secondhand if I can find one - it will be good for a winter baby and i like the front facing-ness. I also like that he will be able to sleep in the carrycot out of the pram if we go to someone's house or something! Thanks! |

We have the urban elite with the bassinett attachment and the car seat clip. It has been fantastic. Beth slept in the bassinett at home for the forst 4 months and it was great being able to go out for walks and then bringing her into the house to cqarry on sleeping. The car seat clip was great for nipping to the shops and really easy to interchange with the bassinett. Was more difficult with the canvas seat. We haven't decided yet but looked and played with a few and my two finalists are the P&T Dash or the http://www.babyfirst.co.nz/productcatalogue/prod-597/Baby-Jogger-City-Series-Elite-Single.htm - City Jogger Elite . I had not heard of this one before but am really really impressed. It fold's with only using one hand, has a really simple footbreak (which is actually easier to use than the handle break on the dash) and has some other really cool features. Weight and width very similar to the Dash.
Also in the same price range. We saw them at Baby on the move and they both cost $730. I hear a lot of good things about the Quinny so will go and have a look at that too. ------------- Here we go again, another baby on it's way!

We loved our Mountain Buggy, highly recommend them and personally I think they are well worth the money.
We recently upgraded to a Quinny Buzz and so far are loving it, same reasons as the MB. Easy to handle, easy steering, stability etc etc. The main point of difference is having DS facing me and he can be facing me reclined not just fully flat like in a MB carry cot. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

The quinny buzz 4 seems to be abit more stable. I have had the buzz 3 and i tried the 4 in babycity and it was alot nicer to push.
Also if you are going to have another baby soonish after the one you are having. Check out the baby jogger city select. They had that one in the shop as well but I thought it was a bit to big. But that brand really do make good stuff. A lot of detail in their prams and very well thought through!
Will go and check out the Quinny. Oh man but than I'm back at having to choose/decide between THREE prams!  ------------- Here we go again, another baby on it's way!

Yip they do make good prams. Yes it is rather big but will be fantastic for 2 children for us. However i think i will get a stroller to use for my 1 year old in the mean time :). Goodluck with choseing your pram.
