I'm currently using babycheeks nappies *most* of the time, although I've been lazy lately and been using sposies more. I've found that DS is leaking through his sposies at nighttime and wetting thru his safety sleep etc (such a PITA!!!) I normally use Treasures giggles, and have tried Pams but they're not really working either. I'd love to get a ecobubs or something but no $$ ATM.

So what I really want to know is, how many inserts would you use to stuff a pocket for nighttime? Daytime he usually has either 2x long inserts or 1x long and 2x short and will last in that for a few hours.

I have a couple of peapods bamboo trifold thingys, a few honey child long inserts + 1 booster and the rest are the babycheeks ones.

Sorry for the mammoth post but help greatly appreciated

Hey Lisa
For night I stuff the pockets with 2x flats and 2 or 3x microfibre inserts. Chelsea sleeps on her tummy with her bum in the air, lol, so I fold up one of the microfibre inserts and stick it in the tummy end of the nappy to stop getting leaks out the front, works well.
Hope that helps

Good question, I want to know too.
Rachelsea, how many layers is each of your microfibre insert?

Lisa, if the pocket stuffing doesn't work, you could try a disposable (home brand from Countdown/Woolworths are great for overnight!) with an empty pocket nappy over top as a cover. This works brilliantly for Campbell!

Thanks Rachel, by flats do you mean the old school squares? I've got the plain ones of these (not the towelling ones)

Thanks Jen, I tried just putting him into a homebrand one last night and he leaked through yet again, hadn't thought of putting a pocket over the top.

Chickoin, I can't read the label on the microfibre inserts anymore lol, but they are large Little Buttons ones (mostly). A few are homemade trifolds so 1layer microfibre, 1layer bamboo folded into 3

Lisa, yeah the flats I use are the plain cotton square nappies from the olden days (well one side is slightly longer) got them off TM pretty cheaply I fold them in half lengthways, then in half again so they are a smaller square. Then fold into three, so each flat ends up being 12 layers of cotton! They are really absorbant

I tried stuffing it like that and loosened the leg elastic one snap but there were big gapes around his legs, tried another pocket and that was really gapey (sp?) too so I ended up using a sposie with a pocket over the top.

For honey childs overnight we use an insert, booster and then a prefold outside of the pocket and that contains everything for 12 hours+. I tried stuffing the prefold into the pocket but it didnt work well and this method seems to.

Sounds like you need a bigger pocket to stuff with Lisa. You use baby cheeks right?? I have some homemade pockets that are a similar pattern to BCs and there is no way I can use them at night given how much stuffing our night-naps need. We get the same gaping. Great with one flat for day-time though.

I'd say give a larger nappy with a wide crotch a go. Then stuff with maybe 2 folded flats (like Rachel) and maybe one or two of your BC inserts. Hopefully that should combat the gaping.

also - I do have 3 new large honeychilds I'm wanting to off-load. Will sell for $20 each (no inserts) if you're interested

We use Ecobubs for night time. But we had used Fuzzibunz and baby cheeks before we got them. I've always stuffed. A bamboo tirfold, I had peopod ones, and 2 3 layer microfibres. Microfibre was on top closest to babies bum as it absorbs faster.

Have ou tried a cover over you spozies at night. or and baby cheeks with a microfibre in it.

We can only use huggies for night time with DS. He leaks through all the others we;ve tried. Pam's, treasures giggles, treasure ultra, budget, homebrand, babylove, select.

GOod think I only need them if we are going away.

I stuffed it the way Rachel suggested last night and it didn't leak, well except for the morning #2's

What colour are your honey childs Anna?

I can't be bothered trying different brands of sposies, now I know that he can wear cloth during the night!

Right the pocket over the top of the nappy is no longer working I tried stuffing a mommy's touch with 2x old flats and 2x microfibre but there is still leg gape so I just left 2 microfibre in and used a sposie.

He is a mega wetter so any ideas what else I can do?

eeek no idea Lisa in regards to cloth, if it were me, Id just admit defeat and use a sposie for night time lol
Cadens not a heavy wetter anymore, so he can go all night in a babyland nappy with 3 inserts and no leaks. I find their nappies really really good.

ETA- Oh and Giggles and Pams are hopeless for nightime nappies for us, we use those brands but the "Ultra" ones and they are fab

He leaks thru a sposie every night Sheena It's sooo annoying! Got the Pam's ultra yesterday and it was ok last night, didn't leak as much as the plain pams ones, will try with a pocket over the top tonight. I just can't be bothered to spend all this money trying sposies when I know I can get cloth to work.

On the plus side a friend is going to make a couple of pockets for me to use at nighttime so should be easier to stuff. I will order a pop-in nappy when we have some $$$
