With both Kiya and Josiah I packed my bag at around 35 weeks... I'll probably do it at a similar stage again, depending on where I'll actually be giving birth (which I won't know until sometime in September)

hmmmm....it's on my list of things to do (along with have the windows cleaned, get my legs waxed and a few other things). You generally have notice of when you are in labour (in most cases) and can throw stuff together before you go to the hospital and if necessary you can always send someone home to get things that you forgot (for the baby at least), but I would suggest having one ready from about 36 weeks.

I haven't done it yet. I got some stuff ready though, before deciding that we might go for a home birth. I'm pack it anyway, just in case and also it's insurence against needing it!

I packed mine after my waters broke...

But then again, I did have to send Andy home after Quinn was born to get important things like the car seat and baby clothes!

I have never been particularly organised.

Just a quick note, we packed snacks for during labour, but I didn't end up being all that interested in food... and ultimately couldn't keep it down ! The most important thing is to keep up your fluids, so don't forget to pack a water bottle too.

I packed my bags around 36 weeks though, I think ! Hehe. Didn't use half the stuff I packed either, at least not until well afterwards, oddly enough.

I ended up having some things brought to me too, and also had three bags really, one for me, one for baby, and one for hubby ! Mind you, I stayed a bit longer than most - five days all up.

something we didnt think of that i will pack this time, is a couple of changes of shirts for hubby, and deoderant for hubby - hospitals are really hot places, and mine was always sweltering, esp after labour. and if you are there for a while he may need some changes :)

Good point on the shirts and deodorant for hubby, I'll agree completely, NSH was super toasty... I hated that because it made it hard to sleep... (mind you, wasn't the only thing, but still)

I'm really disorganised too. 10 days to go and I've only just started throwing a few things together! I should really get my butt into gear...

Um I packed a suitcase on the Monday (had Andrew on the Friday morning). I ended up being put back in hospital (never had anything the first time packed and was allowed to go home to get stuff) and not allowed to leave (they were sure I was going to do a runner and not come back). I was glad I packed the suitcase when I did as I was in hospital for over a week.

A midwife that took our ante natal classes said her golden rule was "when your belly is bigger than your boobs pack your bag!" I thought that was quite cool - in saying that I didn't pack my bag until the day before I was induced!

*checks boobs and belly*

does it count if a tent has been pitched in your bellymaking it look bigger?

Maybe I should start packing anyway!
