I have noticed with this pregnancy that I bruise very easily and the bruises are very sore and stay around for ages and ages. This isn't very normal for me, so I am wondering if it's a pregnancy thing? My legs have about 4-5 bruises each, and some are the size of my palm.
I went to the pharmacy to get some antiflamme or arnica cream, and the pharmacist reckoned I can't have it while pregnant. Is he just being overly cautious? What can I do for the bruising?

I would mention it to the dr or midwife and get some blood tests cos its not normal.

id get all your haem levels checked first and then find out what you can take. there is an underlying problem that needs to get sorted out first if you are bruising more than usual :) id say arnica is ok but talk to a doctor first bout the cause or ring healthline if all else fails

i dont have any comment on why you are bruising, but i do know that Arnica is not ok for use when pregnant. i think its something to do with how it helps the bruising but cant remember exactly, but i do remember my sister being told not to use it by her mw
as the others have suggested i would talk to your mw and see if they need to do any tests to check anything else! good luck with this!

Interesting that they said not to use arnica while pregnant. I was advised to take arnica in the weeks leading up to my due date to help with healing afterwards. My friend's MW in NZ also recommended she take it before she gave birth and she had no probs.
As it turned out, I didn't take it before I had C as he was unexpectedly very early. Maybe it's "OK" to take close to your due date because you're so close anyway?
Be interesting to hear what your MW says about it if you ask
Hope you work out why you're bruising more easily My (unprofessional!) guess would be something to do with increased blood flow during pregnancy?

Thanks guys. I am seeing my ob today and will mention it to him. It's just on my legs so maybe I do just keep banging my legs and bruising them...
Monikah - I googled it and freaked myself out thinking I have low platelets! lol. hopefully not.
