Wedges look very uncomfortable

I've got a safety sleep, and it rocks!!! Jacob is a "traveller" and travels up his cot, out of his blankies, and wakes. I also felt comfortable sleeping him on his side in it, and we have a perfectly round head. We stopped using it about 2 months ago, when he discovered how to undo it, and was standing up in his cot anyway. I will go back to it, and use safety pins to keep it shut when he goes to "big boy bed". i also found it great if we went anywhere, I could put him in a "big bed" and feel safe about it.

We've got one of the sleep wedges, but haven't started using it yet. I'm actually debating not using it at all since I think the safe-t-sleep wrap thing might be better, but not sure.

I'm a fan of the Safe-T-Sleep too. We got one for Ella when she moved into her cot because she was moving all over the show and getting limbs stuck in the bars. She slept heaps more soundly once she got used to wearing it.
We've recently re-employed it to stop her falling out of her big bed, and its just as effective!

I have just brought a safe t sleep. I was lucky enough to get a brand new unused one for only ten dollars at a parent centre bring and buy sale. I think they look like a great idea - especially after being scared about flat heads at antenatal classes the other night!!!!

I had a wedge and a safe-t sleep.
Didn't try the wedge at all but ended up using the safe-t sleep when Han was about 9 months old to stop her standing up in her cot... as she would stand up and scream and scream and scream... if she was secured then she just drifted off.
Phased it out at about 1 year old, but she still sleeps better if she has that "secure" feeling.
You just have to make sure you use them properly otherwise babe can get tangled (Some babies are just far too wriggly for them) but was a god send for me!!!

I started using mine right from birth. Jake didn't like being wrapped, he had to wave his arms round, but I guess he still got the secure feeling from the safety sleep.

Maya was in a Safety Sleep from birth till about 9 or so months. Have bought them for the twins as well - they gave me peace of mind and seemed to help Maya settle more quickly so fingers crossed it will work fo rthe gremlins too.

Syd - I think I may have the same sort of thing...a three step swaddling blanket that fastens with valcro? they look like they rock and seem pretty secure!
I haven't bought a saftey sleep or wedge...if we need one we can consider it then.

Safe T Sleep, used it from 7 months for the same reason as Nikki, to secure the monkey and stop her standing up. Stopped around 13 months as she worked out how to wriggle out of it, didn't try a pin to secure it as she would probably have figured out how to undo that too

I think they are gimmics!! Paige got out of everything after 3 months. I tried both of them. (only cause Mum got given them so thought I would try).
A good wrap and swaddling is what I used successfully with Paige..calmed her down, kept her warm. Apparently makes them feel nice and secure and stops them scratching their faces too!

Maya had to be wrapped inside the safety sleep, she wouldn't sleep without being wrapped.

i have a saftey sleep but baby doesn't like it. I tried him in it for the first couple of nights but he wouldn't settle, so i took it out and he sleeps fine now. I think i will try it again when he's abit older and starts to roll around.

Try Trademe Jax. We got ours really cheaply off of there from someone who had been given 2, so it was all new and packaged.

Well I've spoken to some mum who never used a saftey sleep or wedge, just swaddled so we'll see how we go....if we have to get something though I'll go for the saftey sleep I think.

I had a wedge for Kiya, but didn't use it... I just wrapped her well until she was about 8 months old. Josiah I wrapped until he was about 6 months old.

Jax, if you want my safety sleep I'll send it to you. It's not the newest looking thing around but still does the job.
Let me know and I'll get it up to you and you can just send it back to me when you are finished with it.

We bought one (a Safe T sleep) thinking we'd use it from day one, but haven't used it yet! Will probably use it once Ashlee outgrows her bassinet and goes into her cot. She seems to settle perfectly fine just being wrapped securely in a blanket for now.

I will probably use one... we lost my nephew to SIDS, so safe sleeping is going to be a BIG thing for me.....

A friend lost her little boy to SIDS in February (some of you probably remember me posting about it) so I am a bit of a nutter about it too, I am getting these Respisense breathing monitors for the girls which alarm if they stop breathing.

That'd be really handy if the gremlins come a bit early. I know that sort of thing would drive me nuts unless I had a really good monitor!

I had the wedge one, as piper was a very vomity baby to start with so I slept her on her side and found that worked well, only used it for about 2 months
