So today is my baby's due day!

I have had very little signs of labour being imminent until this morning at about 3:30am when I started getting some cramps (kind of around the cervix area - I think!!!!). I've had them reasonably consistently since - sometimes every 5 or 10 minutes, other times every 20 minutes or so. I don't seem to have any other signs (ie: no Braxton Hicks or back pain or show). The cramps seem to have very very gradually become a bit more intense (ie: this morning they were barely noticeable but now they are more noticeable) but they are still not too painful.

Could labour be imminent or is my body perhaps just playing tricks on me???

My contractions always started as niggly, low pains. I wouldn't say in my cervix area, more like a period type cramp..
That's not to say that yours are not early contractions, it is different for every woman!
All the best anyway, I hope your baby is here soon!

My waters broke first, but the contractions I was having weren't regular until my waters were fully broken...

They definitely got more intense though! And from what I remember... It was like period pain, I did have pain down there, I guess in the cervix area and I also had a bit of lower back pain despite her being the right way and everything.

It happens differently for everyone, but sounds like its the start of it for you!
My waters didnt break til I was 10cm dialted and pushing him out! With #1 the mw borke my waters when I was 6cm. Both times my first labour sign was feeling like I had food poisoning and pooing loose bm!

I had the same sort of thing two weeks before my due date, right up until my due date and they continued until 10 days past my due date when I was at the hospital to be induced.

So yeah, it could be today, it could be next week.   I guess the only sure fire way to know is if your waters break.

I had every single bloody sign of labour, and nothing ever eventuated from any of it.   I was nearly sent home and told to wait a bit longer as my midwife didn't think I was ready (at 10 days over)

both my labours started a bit like you describe. the way i could tell they were contractions was that they were like a wave. they would build and reach a high point and then ease off. that was diff from the bh or period pains i'd had. and when i wasn't having one of the waves there was nothing - no niggles, aches etc. i had that for about 12 hrs with first one, and about 24 with the second.

they weren't painful though and means your body is cranking up - i had easy labours and felt it was due to this long slow build up. got to build up lots of endorphins. rest, drink and eat just in case. how exciting!
