My 4 month son has trouble bringing up all his wind at once and between each feed gets irritable and starts crying when he has a pain, I've tryed Infacol, (dos'nt work), has anyone got any good tips or solutions? I've tryed holding him in all different positions to try and get it up as well.'
All suggestions appreciated.

Sorry, probably not much help as Maya was pretty good at bringing up wind, but once they start sitting up on their own they seem to be able to bring up their own wind so thats something to look forward to. I used to put Maya over my shoulder to bring up wind and that worked for us. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Wow what i can tell you about this subject. Our daughter had really bad colic. You can get lots of homeopathic remidies. Weleda is a good brand. Also you could try cranial massage if its really bad. Pressure on the tummy is a good way to bring up wind so try sitting him on you knee with one hand on his tummy and him leaning over that hand. And with your other hand rub upwards on his back. Another one is like Emma (Maya) said, put him over your shoulder, while you are rubbing his back make sure his legs are straight down and not curled up. | I have found a few different methods with Ella who is also 4 months old. If sitting her on my knee doesnt work, then over the shoulder, if not that, I occasionally bounce her on my knee or even lift her up quickly then down quickly. Failing all that, lying her on her tummy does the trick! |

Thanks for all your suggestions,I bought some weleda colic relief, but its a pain as you have to give it to them every 15-30 mins which means bottles coming out of my ears...(hope that dos'nt sound lazy. I just give him some before every feed.
I also find the bouncing up and down on my knee works well, it stops him crying anyway, although I often worry about the fact "Never shake a baby".as I usually have to bounce him up and down quite hard for any effect. |

As long as his head is well supported I wouldn't worry too much about bouncing him gently on your knee. It shouldn't do him any harm, and you're not actually 'shaking' him as such. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I had the powder and either put it on my nipple, (the osteopath told me to do that) but i found it difficult to put the powder on there, so in the end i just put a little bit on my finger and let her suck that off. The Weleda product I have is a liquid form and is called " Colic Relief" ,hopefully will do the trick. |

I forgot to tell you before with all the suggestions. That my GP perscribed gaviscon for Alyssa when nothing else worked, But she was really severe with colic and wouldnt stop screaming and would only sleep for like 5 mins. Gosh i hope our next one isnt like that. Anyway gaviscon really worked, but dont know how severe your case is. Also when a baby has colic a dummy works wonders, I was really against dummys but My GP told me to get one because colicky babys like to suck and feeding all the time is making their little tummys worse. Thanks, we tryed Gavisgon a couple of months ago..but I did'nt like using it all the time, so we went to thickened formula as Jared had bad reflux as a newborn as well. We use a dummy all the time as well, he loves to suck
All babies are different, I'm sure you will have a better experience with your next one.Thanks heaps |

| I used to just mix the colic power with a little breast milk in a medicine spoon tube thing and found that worked quite well. I didn't worry about steralising it just washed it well |

| Not sure how old these posts are - but when my bub wouldnt bring up wind and was really upset a teaspoon of boiled cooled water always did the trick. |

Here is a remedy from my crazy Polish MIL  Caraway seed!! Soak about a tspn in hot water and give bub a tspn of the water when it has cooled.
