I seem to be getting a really sore lower back in the middle of the night. I dont understand how to fix it. I am only 8 weeks along, but it really is ruining my sleep. Any ideas?

Hot bath and some panadol before bed - pillow under your feet while your sleeping to change your position a bit maybe

I don't know, but you could ring one and ask as they would know.
I found a wheat bag really good for sore backs through out my pregnancy. I let it cool a bit when it came out of the microwave so it wasn't hot-hot iygwim, but more warm/hot and the mw said it was safe to use.
Or you could try soaking in a warm bath.

Yes you can. I've been going to mine the last couple of weeks and just told him how preg I was cause I put my back out shifting furniture

The wheat bag is my best friend
And water walking has really helped me to stretch the back muscles in a safe way, my back always feels much better after a swim!

If it doesn't improve talk to your midwife about referring you to the physio. I got referred to the hospital physio and it was free. My back pain started at about 10 weeks, supposedly something to do with the hormones.

You could try an osteopath too - I had really bad back pain from very early on and found that the osteopath improved things (although the pain never disappeared )

My mw referred me to a physio about 5 months ago... I still haven't heard back and shes no longer looking after me iygwim *sigh*

I've had alot of problems with my back and pelvis since early pregnancy.Have been seeing an osteopath and have noticed such a big difference.
Had the same problems in my last pregnancy and was referered to the physio and didnt find it really helped at all.

Try not to sleep flat on your back too much, as the weight of the baby flattens out your spine - or so I was told by a physio. If you're a back sleeper, try putting a pillow under your knees, apparently this helps keep a bit of a curve in your spine. And I found a wheat bag really good as well.
