has anyone flown much being pregnat.
I am only newly pregnant but have a holiday planned for chrismtas which is booked & paid when i will be about 35-36 weeks. Any comments on people who have done it. |

It depends on if you are travelling domestically or internationally. Domestically you dont need medical clearance until you are 38 weeks. Internationally it is 36 weeks. yea i am actually a travel agent too. .
It just to aussie so i know i am fine up to 36 weeks. which once i get exact dates i should be coming into that week i am away. I have lots of family in ausise we staying with so not to stressed if i went into labour over there.. ha ha. Just thought be interesting to get others thoughts that have done it. |

I flew to London at 20 weeks and return when I was 23 weeks. Being in the 2nd trimester is wasnt too bad but coming home was harder.
Although aussie is only 3 hours just make sure you move around regularly and do little exercises when you are sitting. ------------- Our Angel July 08  Gone but not forgotten
And to complete our family, our princess has arrived

I flew to Sydney when i was 32 weeks pregnant and the person in front reclined their seat and went to sleep which meant i physically couldnt get out of my seat 
But apart from that i have flown quite a lot in both pregnancies and it was fine. -------------

oh Kicker that would sux on a flight..
One extra bonus is i am a koru member so i do get the seats at the front which are a tiny bit bigger. |

You wont be able to get travel insurance covering your pregnancy - I just tried and the companies (including brokers) stop covering you at 28 weeks. Very annoying.
I travelled heaps when pregnant with my daughter (3 yrs ago) and was in the Koru club so found the lounge helpful! Never did manage to get the front seats though because I was always on business flights so they were always about 25% Koru members!!! I found it increasingly uncomfortable flying while pregnant - after one flight I could hardly get out of my seat because my back was all frozen. I used to take a big drink bottle of water to keep well hydrated - but this is trickier now! Perhaps buy one once you have been through screening? I also found on my last couple of flights that I had really, really bad leg swelling. I would recommend a giant pair of shoes for travelling!!! It can be amazing how much feet can swell! I think you'll have to get a medical certificate to fly that late in pregnancy. I have a feeling that the airlines have the ability to refuse to let you travel if they aren't comfortable flying a woman that pregnant. Might be worth having a chat with the airline you will be flying with.

i just went to melbourne at about 33/34 weeks... it wasn't the most comfortable flight but totally do-able! i'd go with someone half decent like EK though - I got stuck on one of Qantas' old planes and could barely get my tray table down the seats were so small!! and request an aisle seat cause you'll be up and down a lot... ------------- Anita Mum to Cian (Aug 08), Josh (Jun 10) http://lilypie.com">
