Has anyone used one of these? I sold my basinnette when TTC was taking too long and so now we're budgetting for all the things we need this time and was wondering about using a Moses basket... they're just soooo cute IMO and I like the idea of them being so portable. Are they smaller than a bassinette? How long are they used for? and did anyone have the stand for them? was it worthwhile? ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

I used one with a stand. I loved it for it's portablility and it weems so snug. DD was only in hers for about 8 weeks as she started to scoot up it and hit her head. I didn't have a moses basket due the price but I had a cane bassinet which looked like one iygwim. I found it great because I could take it to MIL house and baby could have a nap in it iygwim. I could also lug it round the house with her in it so she could sleep in the lounge while I did stuff, etc.
I would recommend one or something similar, our cane bassinet was a hand me down from DPs grandma and had been used by all her kids and grandkids and now great grand kids! She was in it for the first 3 months, could have been in it for longer but like Esme's mum she would scoot up or down it. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Yeah I was the same Nkap with DD2 - she had a basket type bassinette that was awesome for moving around like you say... and that is the other option for us.... My DD2 stayed in the basket for 8 months cos she was so upset whenever we tried to move her to the cot. Do you know if there is a big size difference bwteen the basket bassinettes and the moses baskets? ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

I had one and loved it! We just got a basic one with a wool mattress and a stand that you could fold - so it was easy to move around. It also came with us when going to grandparents/friends' places.
H was in it until 5.5 months. I measured it for someone the other day, and it is 72 cms long - so I'd expect bub to stay there for a wee bit. Oh, and we got ours from baby trenz - at the time it was way cheaper than most other places, and comparable to a bassinet. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

| we got given one - well, kinda, it's more like a bassinet for a buggy. MARVELLOUS!!! We used it ALL the time, DD slept in it at church, at friends places, in the kitchen, lounge etc etc. Loaned it to a friend, who also loved it, have it back now for #2!! (eventually) |

If we had a better mattress fr it then she could've stayed in it until she was about 70 odd cm.
As far as I know our bassinet was bigger than the moses baskets by about 5cm. And is bigger than the bassinets on wheels that you get at say Baby Factory, Baby City or Farmers etc by about 15cm! (Grandfather actually went and measured  )
And like Squishysmum we have a bassinet type thing for our pram, a P&T sports cocoon which we use a fair bit, she can sleep in pram and we can transport her round in it too like a moses basket although it's very different! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Esme went straight into a cot. Our stand folded as well and we had a wool matress. Our basket didn't have a hood which didn't bother me so I don't think that would be essential.
Ours is 68cm so she would still fit in it now at 7 months but it would be a tight squeeze. We moved her early because she kept moving upwards and banging her head. Plus I wanted to transition her young so it would be easier. ------------- http://lilypie.com"> http://lilypie.com">

DD had one (which took me about 3 months to find...not many places sell them!)
It was great, so portable and so cute
I just had it on a bedside cabinet as I didn't want to spend the money on the stand, it worked fine like that. DD was in it for 4 months before she started moving too much that it wasn't safe. After that she went into her cot with no problems. Ours was a Nature Baby one with the woollen matteress. Love it....love it.....love it. Wouldn't use anything else for # 2 |

i had a moses basket which was really handy when we went camping as well becuase it is so portable.
made it baby have some really pretty ones (go to little kiwisnest website to see them ) they're pretty cool fabric ranges and colours I wish I had got mine from there but i didn't know about them then. |
