Ok I'm going to be rather descriptive so if anyone can't handle poo talk, then don't read any further rather a silly disclaimer considering we're all mums or mums2be or TTC...!

Anyhow, I'm wondering if this is normal and welcome any opinions! Ashlee started out with that lovely mustard colour poo, lovely and runny and often watery but just recently, I noticed it had black/dark speckles in it and thought nothing of it (mum said 'oh nothing to worry about, just a bit of roughage' ) but the dark speckles increased, and over the space of maybe 3-4 days, it changed to be completely dark! Still runny, but really dark, and no trace of that lovely mustard colour!

Is this normal?! Or is it something I'm eating? Any opinions are welcome!

You sure its not green .....What am I saying I am sure you know.

Zaara's poo had some green stuff in between the Mustard color...but never changed fully to a darker colour...hmmm

I think its better you talk to your midwife.....Good luck and let us know if you get any answers.

Hmmm maybe it is a dark green... It's a dark something. I'm too busy hurriedly getting the nappy wrapped up and in the bin! The only reason I'm thinking brown is that it may be to do with me eating too much chocolate?

My midwife is not very helpful at the best/worst of times. Plunket is due to ring me though so I shall ask them.

Or Baalmb try your GP they can get you to take a sample and then get it tested at the lab if they thin kit is reason for concern.

Hmm.. babies have many shades of poo colours lol.. could be an infection, but could be normal too! It won't be the chocolate, trust me! I'm a chocoholic lol and it never affected Ella

Okay not to alarm you but if it is black you should definately get it checked out as it could be blood.   If its green and frothy usually means to much foremilk or an upset tummy. Im sure healthline will give you some good advice.

Hahaha oh too late for the freaking out panicking thing! I just did an 'inspection' of the nappy and can quite safely say that it is green. Phew!! And lucky I checked that out before I read the last few posts otherwise I would have been a right mess!

Haven't rung the health line yet. Will wait until hubby gets home.

So what would be the solution to too much foremilk? Expressing a bit before I feed? She's not overly grizzly though, and she's putting on weight so I'm quite sure she's getting the fatty stuff. man this parenting thing can get you in quite a knot!!!

Suggestion. Does she go on both breasts during the feed? If so after she comes off the first breast. Burp her and try and put her back on that breast.

If the green poos continues for more than a few days i would probably still go down to the docs with a sample just so they can get it checked and rule anything out.
