I don't think it's that common in NZ, but have seen quite a few pics from the States, and I think that the little cake is usually a "smash" cake. -------------

Its quite common in the US .. they are for the baby to smoosh up and it leaves the big cake in tact for the grown ups to devour. ------------- Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months) I did it .. 41 kgs gone! Thanks guys, well that makes sense. I think us kiwi's don't mind our babies getting into it, after-all it is their cake. Think I'll just make one cake and see how my baby deals with it...she can go for it if she wants, we will just have to eat the rest.
