Hi guys,
I've just started back on the combined pill and prior to that I was feeding my 1 year DD a brief feed at about 7am.
I've just been googling as ya do and have been reading that it doesn't actually affect your baby, the hormones in the combined pill can affect your milk supply...I would prefer to carry on the morning feed for the next few months if poss though I've stopped for now (only 2 days) has anyone got any thoughts or advice about this? I always though it was the hormones passing into the baby that was the issue.
Thanks! :)

From what I have gathered about the combi pill and bf it's only an issue for really new babies and emerging milk supplies....so now that she is 12 months old your milk supply 'should' be ok. Some sites suggest that you can go on the combi pill from when baby is 6 months old, though personally it's not something I'd ever do.

Have you seen what http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/birthcontrol.html - Kellymom has to say about the combined pill? At the end of the day I guess it is up to you where you go from here. I am a mini pill person, even when not bf because AF goes AWOL and I like that. LOL

Thanks for that, wish my GP had told me this! I can't go on the mini pill as I recently got preg while using it and BFing and lost my baby so I need something stronger.
Well DD can keep her 6-7am feed at this stage much preferred to going to make a bottle in the freezing cold :)

Hi, I'm a nurse who works in the field of contraception. The combined pill is ok for use if breastfeeding a baby older than 6 months.
