I want to know what everyone else puts their kids lunches in... and the drink bottles.

what do you do to stop the condensation on the drink bottle getting the bag wet? and what lunchbox is big enough to fit it all in?

with gabriel i had an ice age tupperware bag but it got grotty very quickly and i had to throw it out. it fited everything in but the lunch box itself will only fit a certain type of yoghurts and the sistema ones are almost full once i put the sandwich keeper in it!

and next term i will have two kids to pack lunches for!

The smash box ones from KMart are pretty big from what I remember, more depth than others...thats if they still sell those ones. And some of them have a slot on the side for the drink bottle to go in.

I have a few of the tiny ice pack things from KMart too that I wrap in a couple of paper towels to keep the condensation from going through the lunch box.

I used to use the padded ones until I read an article about the lead in them so now use plastic ones. My boys have the large ones.

I use small pump bottles for water & reuse them for about a week & get new ones. In the summer I part freeze them. I don't put them in the lunch box but wrap them in a small towel.

We have 2 lunch boxes. We have a padded one and one is just a plain plastic one and then all food that isn't prepackaged like bars, yoghurt etc are put in little plastic containers. Saves on using glad wrap and keeps the food fresh and safe from spillage. I just have a nice little selection of little containers and I really looked around for a decent sized lunch box to make up for the extra space that they take up.

My dad has an insulated one that has a drink bottle holder on the side of it.

I saw some at the warehouse recently - a new brand which I typically can't remember the name of, but they do cool stuff like stacking round boxes and lunch boxes with diff compartments that seemed quite deep.

the smash lunchboxes are insulated but lead and all nasties free. but cannot be put thru the dishwasher.

those round stackable ones are very handy. they screw together, and seal water tight. i have the one with 2 on it (can get it with 3 but they are smaller in height) and often take carrots and dip, or milk and cereal...nevr leaks...and pop thru the dishwasher and bam clean

We've got a padded smash one with a compartment in the top, where I put his morning tea and the larger bottom compartment (it looks like a pirates treasure chest, lol) fits his tupperware sandwhich keeper and a yogurt and fruit and I can also squeeze bikkes etc in there too. Having the two sections are cool, too, saves him eating it all at playtime cos he knows that the bottom half is lunch food etc. The nude food containers/lunchboxes are quite cool, but you need to think about what you will put in there and if its gonna fit! But you know that anyhow since oyu have had a trail run with #1!! Miss 3 just has a square box lunchbox thing, she'll let an upgrade when she needs more room.
Drink just goes in the side of his bag in the bottle holder as they take theirs into class anyhow.
I haven't used freezy things yet, will cross that hurdle once the temperature gets above 10 degrees, lol.

I can't wait until Lily starts school!

The smashproof ones are really great, lots of space. You can get ones that half a drink bottle holder on the side too.

Both the older kids have got just a Sistema one. I also got a sammie storage thingee for #2 from Foodtown and it fits in perfectly. Drinks, my kids don't like taking drink bottles to school for some reason.....

We have those compartmental ones - sammies go in the top, everything else in the bottom (fruit, snack bar, rice crackers, container of yoghurt ....) Dan's carer gave it to us - I think she was sick of the ice cream containers! You get them at the WH or Foodtown ( though I don't know if I'm allowed to mention brand names anymore - might be "advertising )
