I'm looking at car insurance options at the mo for my car. I got it a couple of weeks before turning 25 so specifically waited until after my bday to get a lower premium and I'm only just getting around to it.. whoops..

anyway has anyone done the research lately to see who is generally the cheapest??

fintel if you've got good rating ie no accident and not boy racer car.

its thru tower

not sure about the likely hood of them paying out though

I haven't compared for awhile but always found AMI reasonable, always been great with claims as well...

I don't compare insurance, but we are with State and I love them never had any problems with them when I have been crashed into.

We use AMI - have forever, as have my parents. Never had any issues with claims and have always had the cheapest quotes

Tower had cheapest quotes for us by a long shot!

We used AIG, which I think is linked in to State, and did have some issues with them when our car was crashed into recently. It took them six weeks to let us know what was happening wtih the car - and in the end they'd fixed it before they consulted with us. It got all sorted in the end, but I can't say I was overly pleased with the service.

Crazy doing online quotes, tower and ami have come out at literally twice the price as AA for the same type of insurance... i wonder why..

We are with State, only because DH's mum works for them, can't help with prices though sorry.

Our car was crashed into a couple of months ago and we had no problems at all with the claim, they were so helpful and easy to deal with.

My parents are with AMI and love them. My step-dad was in a major accident 18 months ago and they were so supportive and helpful with it all. Told Mum all the things they could claim for and even sent a big bunch of flowers to wish him all the best in his recovery.

We are with AMI also and find them great, we haven't had to claim yet but their prices are good and we've never had any issues with them.

We're with AMI and find their prices good, but that might be because we have all of our insurance with them and get a substantial discount. They have always been great with claims that we have made.

I just recently looked at these for our new car....we're with Vero at the moment, but it's usually quite expensive, so I looked at AA, AMI and State for insurance for the new car...AMI is the cheapest, and has the best excess options. I also like their wording. I've never really been keen on State, because of dramas that I had with them relating to a claim my ILs made on their rental property (due to State's stuff up). I like AA, and their cover is underwritten by Vero, but at this stage I went with AMI...this may change though (I waited until the last minute to sort it out).

Cheaper is NOT always better.

make sure you check what they cover as well as price.

Also some places have put their prices up this year already but others are yet to do so (but will be) - AMI for example hasn't yet but is where as BNZ has so you know exactly what you are paying now.

Oh and if you like flybuys BNZ do it (can you tell I like BNZ lol)

Check with your bank as well, they might have a good deal through whom ever they do insurances for.

I agree with Chickaboo totally - if we could afford it, I would stay with Vero, because IMO their cover is superior, but we can't...so that's why I mentioned the AMI wording.
