After much deliberation I have finally bought a Maxi Cosi Mura 3 Wheeled Pram.
The advice I was given in the store was that the pram was suitable from newborn upwards and the documentation also supported this.
However when I unpacked the product at home and read the instructions they stipulate the following;
"We recommend that the seat of the Maxi Cosi Mura is only used after your child has reached that age of 6 months and is able to sit unassisted. When being used from birth we recommend that the Maxi Cosi Mura is used together with a carrycot, pram body or baby car seat"
Seeing as they say "recommend" rather than "Do Not Use" the seat for a newborn, I am now feeling rather unsure of what to do.
I am due today and could do without having to go through any more shopping trips!
I now feel a little dupped as i am unsure whether the basic pram i have bought is suitable for use from newborn or whether it is only suitable if I also buy and use a carry cot or car seat with it.
Does anyone have any advice?
Or has anyone used a Maxi Cosi Mura for their Newborn?
Any advice welcome.
Thanks

Hi Newkiwi,
I hate to say it but I think you've been sold something that should not be used for a newborn. The shop should be held accountable for this. The maxi cosi mura needs to be used with a suitable group 0 carseat like the pebble or the cabrio-fix car seat. I'd use this rather than the bassinet / carry cot cos you can actually use them in a car which you can't with the carry cot.
The shop should not have sold you this item on the basis that it is suitable for newborns as it just does not have the essential head support and maxi cosi even say so in their literature. If you really are fond of this item then I'd keep it and buy the correct car seat from the store and see what sort of discount they can give you based on the fact that they sold you something falsely. As you are on your due date, I'd also suggest they deliver to you free of charge. Go in making a fuss and speak directly to the manager. Most stores in NZ are keen to not have any bad press. I'd also mention that you've taken advice from a baby forum on what to do about this. It makes it sounds as though you're willing to take this further if they aren't helpful.
I know it's probably the last thing you want to do on your due date, but some fights are worth fighting. It'll also give you something to do whilst you wait for bubs to arrive. You'll also need a car seat for the return trip from the hospital as they won't discharge you and bubs without one.
Good luck with it and let us know how you got on.
