Has anyone used one of the elleroo ones? what did you think?
I so confused with this whole baby carrier thing... just so many options... I had a ring sling with DD2 which I wasn't too happy with as sooo much adjusting to get it right.... but I loved carrying her! so gonna get it sorted this time... I'm thinking of getting a Mei Tei, a Moby and a sling to throw in the car... then I can see what I like best... but not sure what kind of Mei tei and what sort of sling (looking at unido, d&Z, and peanut shell)... any recommendations greatly appreciated  ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

Personally, I prefer a SSC - Ergo, Manduca, Beco. They're similar to a mei tai but they have buckles instead of long straps that you tie. Given you're looking at a moby (long, straps you tie), I wonder if you might look at a SSC which is easy and quick to chuck on. That said, those who are used to MTs get pretty quick at tying them up (I just get frustrated with all the fabric!).
Is this for #3? My recommendation (and I'm not the expert here) is a Moby for when they're newborn and a sling and an SSC for when they're bigger with some more head support. You can get newborn inserts for all the SSCs though. With the SSCs (and MT), you start with them on your front, facing you, then as they get good head control, you can put them on your back. ------------- Mum to two wee boys |

Thanks Flissty! Yeah I quite like the look of the Manduca as well, and it would be better for DF to use as well... I was thinking I prob wouldn't want both the Moby and the Mei tei was only thinking of getting them to try and selling what I don't use... There's just sooo much choice!
Yip for #3 - seeing we're still on one income I am gonna start getting the things we need soon so it's not a big stretch at the end... ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

I have a moby and just made a pouch (like a d & z). I also have a manduca on the way. I loved the moby for E as a NB but I am now wanting something quick to put on. . If you can sew in a straightish line you could make a pouch sling. Yeah, I've made several pouch slings - definitely the way to go, just make sure you get the sizing right.
ETA: Easy enough to make a Moby type wrap as well - 4.5m of a thick stretch, just overlock/zigzag the edges. ------------- Mum to two wee boys |

great thanks for the link esmesmum - I think I can manage a straight line so might give it a go... it'll be a good chance to use the new sewing machine I bought at xmas and haven't yet touched

I'm gunna go a little against the grain here hun and totally recommend a Mei Tai at least to try out!!
I have just received a http://babyhawk.com/ - Babyhawk and I LOVE it! Mei Tais are fantastic for all shapes and sizes as well. I had an Ergo but found the straps etc to be really uncomfortable because of buckles, and there wasn't enough give in the straps etc. Of course heaps of people love them but definitely worth shopping around if you can 
I forgot what else I was gunna say lol but also they are mega cute

We have a Moby, and Ergo and a http://kozycarrier.homestead.com/ - Kozy . I loved the Moby when Jude was small but wanted something a sturdier for back carrying. We got the Ergo first and I liked it but got a Kozy and LOVE it. It's a mei tei type carrier that ties up with straps rather than buckles.
It's so easy to put on (I find it MUCH easier to use than the Ergo for back carrying) and I find it more comfortable than the Ergo. DP prefers the Ergo though because of the buckles and he has more space to work with when hip scooting Jude around to his back (you don't have to hip scoot with a mei tei carrier). Even though you can use the Kozy with a newborn - I think I will still have the Moby as my first choice when this baby is young. Still love the Moby ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I find it super quick and super easy to use. To get Jude on my back I use the http://kozycarrier.homestead.com/instructions.html - "Shoulder Toss" . It would take me less than a minute to get him on my back and all tied up. With the Ergo I find you usually need more adjusting and shifting to make sure the legs are hanging even but I never need to do that with the Kozy. I definitely recommend a mei tei! I also feel much more comfortable putting the Kozy when I'm out and about (like in a carpark) because with the shoulder toss I'm never scared he is going to fall out onto the ground as I am with hip scooting. I suppose the hip scoot would get easier and quicker with time though but I've never had the need since getting the Kozy). ------------- http://lilypie.com">
