Hi gals,

Anyone else there suffering terrible pregnancy insomnia? I am accustomed to my standard 8 hours... after first Tri I think I have probably had an average of three to four hours a night because I have to wake up to pee and then can't get back to sleep again.

I exercise. Diet healthy. Any ideas for how I can a) stop peeing in the night or b) get back to sleep again.

Last night I was awake at 1.30am and didn't get back to sleep until 6am... alarm went off at 6.30am!

This has been happening every night for two months and I am miserable about it.

I try to tell myself it is just my body getting used to the fact that when baby arrives I won't have any sleep ... but that doesn't seem very fair at all!

:-(
Love your tips or just commiserations.
Bx

I've had the same experience, sorry can't help.
I usually make up for it by having a sleep in on Sunday. I've also found if I go to bed earlier I tend to get enough sleep.
I'm in my 2nd trimester and whilst I'm not in bed by 8.30pm, like I was in the 1st I am heading to bed around 9.30-10.00pm at the latest.

I had this from about 28-30 weeks and it was rather a pita! Esp as dp snores so it didn't help the going back to sleep.

Unfortunately the peeing is something you can't really control imo.

This happens to me too, I can't get to sleep because I lie awake thinking about the baby and then when I do, I wake up and have to go pee and find it hard to sleep again.

The only things I can suggest are limiting your fluid intake a few hours before bed, having a bath before bed to relax you, or a warm drink, going to bed earlier to compensate if you end up losing hours of sleep. Also going to bed and waking up at the same time every day even on the weekend does seem to help. If you get a chance to nap, take it.

I used to get insomnia pre-pregnancy and I used to read until I would fall asleep, perhaps if it gets really bad do something like that.

Ah yeah, naps! They are great I had so many naps when preg, usually mid arvo when I really felt tired from the lack of sleep!
