DH and I have a nearly 10 month old baby and Im finding that we don't spend much time doing things together. During the week we do normal family routine things, having dinner, bath time, play time and spending the evening watching TV lol. once a fortnight we will go to his dads for dinner.

At weekends we don't tend to do much together. DH often goes hunting every 2nd weekend and I go stay at my parents. On the weekends he is home I want to go out and visit family whereas he would rather stay home.

So what do you do with your family? I know that as DD gets older we will be able to do more things like the park and exploring, the beach etc but well I just feel like we don't really DO anything....

We do lots of outdoorsy things and have done most of these since before he was a year old... go look at the windmills here, go for a walk, go to the park, the beach is great fun. We like going to wellys and going to petone beach to have lunch there, play in the sand. We just try and get out and about sometimes then I make sure DH does something with Daniel by himself every weekend since they don't really see each other during the week

eta: if you have a good pet shop nearby go there, most kids love it!

We live with my parents but at the weekend we visit the ILs and do something with them as I have to young BILs.

As dp is busy during the week, I do the groceries with my mum and dd while dp has some 'me' time.

DP and I don't really do anything with Lily as a family yet, but when she gets a bit bigger etc we will - and we're looking forward to it!! - Or at least I am...

we walk the dog but we try to make it into a bit family outing (esp now the girls are older) so along Oriental Pde or Botanic gardens (and stop at the duck pond and playground) and if closer to home, via the park or a cafe for a fluffy.

We also go to the pool - with two fearless water-babies it is not something I do on my own!

We don't have a lot to do in the town we are in so if we want to 'do' something we have to drive for an hour....then we can wander around the shops, go have a coffee, go down to the beach.
At home we might sometimes put DS on a rug while we garden but that is about as exciting as it gets here (too hot to do much outside and there are giant ants and the grass is crunchy).
Once DS gets older we will get his paddling pool up and do more of that sort of stuff.

mostly we hang out at home. the boys love it when they get to help dad in the garden or play games with him.. we have soccer in the weekend and we all go to that - but at the moment both boys play on different teams so hubby goes with toby and eden and i go to gabriels game - i am the manager of his team so dont have a choice. sometimes we go shopping together, browse bunnings or the warehouse...

DH is usually ok about going out on his one   day off to one outing. But he doesn't agree to everything so I sometimes go to things on my own with DS instead. We go to the museum, feed the ducks, go to the park (swing), go for a walk, to the beach and get a takeaway coffee to drink down there or an icecream in summer, to the pet shop, to the pools (havent done this in ages though). I'm planning on some other things too like visiting old houses such as Alberton and going for a walk around the mountain - eg. Mt Albert.

When he's older we'll take him to the zoo and Kelly Tarltons. He loves our cat so no doubt he'll be interested!!

ETA: at the moment he likes shopping and grocery shopping - so we make the most of that!

Nothing?
Sometimes we go to the airport to watch the planes, but I usually do that with Thomas as DH spends all his free time on the computer.

We have always tried to get out of the house one day a weekend and then we "relax" at home the other day (usually we end up going out both days, but that's kind of the "plan" for each weekend).

Before we had a car we would go for a walk and get coffee or breakfast, take a train to the beach or a park and go for a walk/sit in the shade while Callum slept, go for lunch and then a wander round the shops, visit friends, go swimming, rugby at the pub (a kid friendly one where C can run around!)

We've had a car for the past 3 months or so and have been venturing further afield - also coincides with C being that bit older and wanting to run around a LOT more so now we do picnics at the park or the beach, zoo visits (we joined for a year so we go a lot), indoor play gyms followed by lunch or a coffee out if it's too hot or too wet, we've also been to a goat farm and an organic vege farm - Callum thought they were both great!

C and I don't see a lot of DH during the week so the weekends are family time. We will often catch up with friends while we do some of those things but other times it's just the three of us. Both DH and I try and get some time to ourselves at some point too - DH often plays sport on Saturday morning and I've had a day trip away recently and this weekend am having my very first weekend off to go to Thailand

We go to the library (and did since DS was born)

Parks/Playgrounds/Beach

If we were shopping we'd sometimes add in like a pet shop even if we didnt want to buy anything, so that the kid/s could look at the animals

Icecreams in summer!

Our Saturday usually consists of doing mall shopping and we take Jackson to see the dogs at the pet shop (he loves them) and other chores we havent done during the week. On Sundays we try to go to the park, or go for a walk or the beach etc. It doesnt always happen due to housework and other commitments but we try when we are free.

We have been doing things as a family since H was a week old - usually a walk on the weekends, or out for coffee/brunch, or now that he is a bit older to the park or the playground, the beach etc. It's something DH and I have been doing as a couple on the weekends, so it has been natural to keep doing it and just take H (and b2 when it arrives) along.

Some weekends just lazing around. Others we go out like to the circus and taking them out to the little mermaid show this week.

Sometimes shopping or just to the park and beach or involve them in the stuff that needs done. Like for instance right now we are building raised garden beds to McKayla is helping and even Andrew was hitting nails with a hammer.

Or he helps me dig bulbs out of the garden.

Baking. Yip we did baking from about 6 months. Kiddies love digging their hands in and I give the bowl to them and Daddy on the kitchen floor to lick while the goods are baking.

Will come back later to this. Andrew is climbing up for nap and milk.

my partner has a 5yr old daughter and i have a just turned one year old daughter , DP has his daughter every second weekend so we try really hard to do something that weekend as a family , ussualy its stuff like willowbank ( wildlife reserve) mini golf , science alive etc etc and my one yr old doesnt get much out of it as she just sits in her pram and watches, the other week we went to chipmunks and my one yr old loved it cos she got to get out of her pram and have a crawl around , she loved the ball pitt and blow up slide ( she was able to go down with me or my partner ). Its hard to try to find something to do with a baby as they cant really do too much , i guess anywhere they can get out and have a wee crawl or play is good .

We dont do much during the week, by the time DH gets home form work its dinner/bath/bed time! During summer we go to the beach for a swim when he gets home from work a couple of times a week.
Sat am's we all go to the Farmers Market together then for a wonder around town. Isla has swimming at 11am, so we all go to that then home for lunch. Then we go and watch some local sport, somethimes just DH and Isla depending on if Aiden is awake or not etc. We usually go visit the inlaws sometime during the weekend, and see my parents too. DH and Isla do the food shopping Sun ams.

We go for a walk if DH finishes work before its dark, otherwise DS and I go during the day during the week.

Weekends we go walking around the shopping malls (nice and warm!), might go to the beach, go for lunch, visit family, got to the pools, farmers markets etc. Heaps you can do that doesnt cost anything

Someone on here said they have part of the weekend eg Saturday morning as family day and do something together every weekend then, that's what I really want to do too. At the moment the main thing we do together is go to the shops. DS loves sitting up in the sling while we browse the shops or sometimes I let DH hold him. Apart from that we mainly play at home and often one of our parents pop over, or we might go see them. Often I go to my Mum's with my sister and her boys but DH usually uses that time to do his own thing.

In the summer we did that plant a tree for babies thing (might just be a Waitakere City thing) and so we go back to that park sometimes.

Actually, I think I do less on the weekends than I do during the week since DH is here to amuse us a lot of the time.

I'm planning on going to the zoo, the park and the beach lots once the weather improves. Museum is a good idea. What about MOTAT? What's that like these days? I know it's free for different areas on different months of the year.

I've taken Cooper to the pet shop quite a few times, but so far he hasn't seemed interested in the animals, loves staring at other people mainly and loves our cats too.

I can't wait to do the whole garden thing like you're doing SMoody! I had the romantic idea that I was going to do one this past summer since I thought Cooper would spend loads of time sleeping and I'd take the monitor outside... joke was on me
