Ok ladies, thinking hats on please!

I have a 30th to go to in 2 weeks, theme is heroes and villians and you MUST dress up or no entry (not that I wouldn't because I love dressing up!)

I want something recognisable to a certain extent, but don't want to go with the normal wonderwoman/catwoman/poison ivy boring ones.

Other people I have heard of going have got Power Rangers costumes, my BIL is going as Osama Bin Laden (um.. that would be the villian side btw), Luke Skywalker etc etc.

Ideas please - keep them coming! I will make my costume so ideas are the biggest issue atm. I've googled but most things come up with the usual ones, or it's skin tight leather and I just don't pull that off in my current haven't-shed-the-last-5kg-since-baby state

You could go as someone off Survivor - Heroes and Villians wear a buff around your head and look like you have been living rough for awhile.

The Pink Ladies from Grease - kind of villian like and you just need a pink jacket, black tshirt and tight black pants.

Dorothy or the Wicked Witch from Oz.

Alice in Wonderland or Queen of Hearts. A friend went as the queen of hearts to a party and made her costume, she looked awesome!

I went to a heroes and villians party a year and a bit ago..... I went as Uma Therman in Kill Bill I was lucky they had that costume at the hire shop! I didn't want to go as the usual. I'm just trying to remember what some of the other people went as... most were just the usual superwoman/superman type characters I think

Probably not hiring a costume - not sure yet. Can't justify the expense for a one-off, when I can make the costume and wear it again if need be (I currently have a greek one and and indian one - not that fancy tho - that I can pull out if need be).

It's a really hard genre for ladies. Guys are easy. DH was going to go as Willie Apiata seeing as he has the uniform already. Was trying to think of a comic book hero that wears camouflage and I could rip one of DH's old shirts up (shhh don't tell him!)

You could always go as Zena Warrior Princess and use DH's camo gear for your costume.
She's kind of a heroine.
I managed to make a Zena costume out of plastic rubbish bags and pieces of flax. Its easily doable.

Last similarly-themed party I went to I went as Little Red Riding Hood, easy costume- dark clothing under a red blanket safety-pinned to make a hood. Or there's any one of the evil Step-mothers from a fairy-tale. Or go Shakespearean as Lady Macbeth. Pocahontas. Or if you feel like cross-dressing there's always Prince Charming, G.I.Joe, Count Dracula.

I like the literal interpretation of going as someone you genuinely admire. So the Dalai Lama, or Gandhi, or the suffragettes who got us the vote, or whoever it is for you. Musician, artist etc. could go as van gogh and carry a fake ear around hehe

or osama bin laden as a villan.
