Dealing with nappies, vomiting baby etc.

I know I'm probably going to sound like a total wuss but my gag reflex is normally pretty darn good particuarly around especially offense nappy type sights and anything that involves throwing up.

I must admit to being a little worried about dealing with all this...I know I'll harden up and cope but still...

Ok confession over... I just hope no one laughs toooooooo much!

ok - so i must say - other kids nappies and sick isss eeeewwwww, but funnily enough your own kids.. is usually just fine. I think it helps that it starts out pretty non-offensive (looks a bit funky for the first couple of poos.. meconium) not too smelly small amounts (until poo-splosions happen!) and yeah - it just gradually builds up in offensiveness and amount - but you deal with it, cos you are they mum, they can't do it themselves and they are counting o you.. and yep once they start solids, or formula - you do sometimes think "OMG! I wanna chuck, how gross is that??!!!" lol, you do get over it.

lol. not laughing at you.. laughing with you.. seriously

Janine is right, when it is your own baby, it's not so bad ! I did have a dry gag a couple of times when Erin had done a particularly large poo, but otherwise handled it better than I originally thought I would have. Now it's even more fun with her on the bottle, I don't even have to open her nappy anymore to tell whether or not she's done one As for vomit, we have been lucky that Erin is not really a vomity baby - she has had a couple of minor spews, and it just smells like really rotten milk. The first time I had to clean it up I felt a bit green, and the second time I made Roland do it You will be absolutely fine hun - what's the bet that poor B vomits first ? Hehehe sorry LOL Couldn't resist since we've got the whole fainting incident under our belts...

Sadly while B has the monopoly of fainting at the sight of needles and graphic thoughts of surgery....he is fine around poo and spew. *sigh*

I'm glad I wouldn't be the first to gag though!

If I were you Paws, even if I WAS okay with poo and spew I would pretend I wasn't and make hubby do all of that. hehehe

It is really gross, especially when they get older. I always gag when Kobe throws up and generally hubby has to fix him up because Im busy retching in the corner but baby spew isnt to bad. Im one of those people that only has to hear someone throw up and I start retching i have such major gag reflex i cant even brush my teeth without it being a drama but when it comes to your children you honestly just deal with it (unless hubby is on hand

Yeah I agree, little baby poop and spew isn't so bad. the puke just looks and smells like milk and the poop is pretty inoffensive and odourless.
Now that I'm cleaning up after a newborn again though, my 2 year olds nappies are definite gag material!!

I coped with poo and spew when Maya was tiny but when she got sick at 5 mths and spent 4 mths projectile vomiting I did get a bit over it. Will never forget when she was in hospital being fed Paedialyte via nsogastric tube - lets just say it doesn't look the same in reverse...

Baby poos are generally only reeeeeally gross when they have a stomach bug. That almost makes me throw up.

Baby spew is generally just milk... It's ok. You do get a bit over carrying the lovely sour milk aroma around with you tho
