We got a wii in the last week and theres yoga on it. I've never done yoga before, but I've done pilates and I did a couple of the exercises to see how good I would be and I get 4 stars (yoga trainer) so my muscles must still be in fairly good shape to do it safely even though I'm a first timer.

I was very very selective about which ones I tried cause some looked a bit dodge to do when preggy.

For those who do yoga which exercises (names of them if poss) are fine to do when preg or more importantly which ones are a no no?

(I am gonna be cautious and careful while doing it, I won't over do it by any means)

When I did pg yoga .. we tended to do kneeling ones and ones where we used a bolster for support while lying sideways, there were no exercises done while lying flat on our backs.

Weegee is doing pg yoga, she could probably be more helpful than my memory

The main thing is obviously nothing that is lying on the tummy! The other thing is no twisting in on yourself.. so you can twist away from your body but not into your body iygwim.

I didnt change from normal yoga to preggy yoga when I was pg with Jake, just modified my positions as necessary.

You need to keep your feet bit wider apart then in normal poses and if its uncomfortable dont do it...

Also take care not to over stretch. Remember the hormones are already making everything more lose and it's really easy to damage muscles/tendons/joints if you push the stretches too much.

Also, I wouldn't do poses where you are on one leg (eg tree pose, keep your toes on the floor instead of putting your foot up on your knee).

If you have a low-lying placenta don't stand with your legs more than shoulder-width apart and don't do deep squats/lunges.

I did both preggy and hatha yoga while I was pg with Callum and it was great. Like LF we did a lot of poses on all fours, also sitting or kneeling and different breathing exercises.

My placenta is high so no issues there. I've only tried a few of the poses and they have been very easy for me without over extending myself in any way.I was shocked cause I thought my muscles would be crap after my lazyness in the last couple of months, but then I was working out alot prior to getting preg
