Is anyone here a In Home Educator? Looking after kids working for one of these company's?
How do you like it? Do you have any other info or opinions you want to share please. Thanks -------------

oh Sabrina - we had our DD through Porse. Although I wouldn't recommend our caregiver as things changed in her life and her focus obviously changed so she stopped doing things with the kids like she promised. But all I will say is that if you say you will do something with the kids don't go back on your word or maybe you should talk with the parents that you can't take kids to library etc anymore.
I looked into doing it but worked out that our car is too small for another kid so couldn't do it. ------------- http://lilyslim.com">  http://lilypie.com">

I have a friend who has worked for Porse and said they weren't very nice to work for. She now works for Home Grown kids and loves it. Yea, you do need a car big enough to transport your kids plus kids in your care. I think you get given an allowance to get carseats/double prams etc too and toys. -------------

I don't think cars are a prerequisite. A had a caregiver that didn't she did though walk them miles so I was glad to have her out of her care. She made the kids walk next to the pram rather than in it!
But if you do have a car obviously if you are taking the kids somewhere you have to have proper seating for them all. ------------- Kel http://lilypie.com">

I have 2 extra kids through porse, it's great. I don't have a big enough car for 3 tethered seats in the back, both families know this and are happy for us to go to local playgroups and parks that we can walk to rather than the porse ones that are 15 mins drive away. I would NEVER make the kids walk next to the pram though, the 2 heavier ones are in the pram and DD (who's only 1/2 a kg lighter!) goes in the backpack. We look a right sight walking around, but it gets us from A to B! I'm saving now for a bigger car that will fit 3 seats so we can do more things, hopefully have enough by the end of the year.
It's hard work in some senses, it's hard to get out of bed for a child to arrive before your child wakes up. BUT, DD has children to play with every day, in a family setting. My first baby's mum and I say that neither of our kids are 'only' children, for as long as they remember (M was 6 months when he started, same age as DD) they have had someone else in the house. They are learning sharing, waiting turns, patience etc as they grow every day. The bast part for me is that I can stay at home with my daughter, and give her the childhood I had ( as much as possible). And if I get to offer that childhood to a couple of other children, all the better! Sorry, that was long and I don't know if it answered anything for you. I really enjoy my job, porse here offers good support, educator resources and training. I have heard that some offices aren't so good, but call a few and see which ones you mesh with. |

My mums a banados caregiver and ill be doing it at the start of next year to. Its quite good. Expecially if you want to be home for your kids.
If there is anything you want to know feel free to pm me i can ask her for you when im there this avo :) One thing i have been told (correct me if im wrong) is with porse you find your own kids but banados finds them for you & sets up match ups before they start. |

I'm with Porse in Hamilton, I find the support to be really good (I have an awesome visiting tutor) and they organise excursions and stuff, BUT I am waiting for children!!! I started nearly 2 months ago, a friend of mine enrolled her child with me through Porse (hence how I know the visiting tutor), but Porse themselves haven't actually placed any children with me yet. -------------

I want to look at this for my son soon but I am so scared to have things happen that i dont see...... its the one thing about in home that scares me. People can fool me easily into thinking they are awesome. but since they are alone with the kids they can do what ever they like.........and just tell you a different story. No one else there to pull them up on things
But i also think hes too young for a daycare centre But i will have a look and hope i get a good feeling and will see about references from other parents fom the carer etc (if thats allowed) |
