Sorry if this is TMI!
I’m totally freaking out and need some reassurance. So far my pregnancy has been worry free and with only mild m/s. However I had some quite sharp lower tummy pains late last night every time I moved too suddenly in bed. I even woke up a couple of times during the night with sharp pain after a sudden turn. Anyways, I thought nothing of it until now but have just discovered I have some light bleeding (not even sure if that’s right – it’s more like the brownish discharge towards the end of one’s period). Call your midwife if you have one, otherwise I would suggest going to see a doctor, even if just for peace of mind. Have you got a midwife yet? If you do, she'd definantly be worth ringing... if not, you could ring your GP? I'm not a medical pro, but I've heard that brownish bleeding when you're pregnant isn't necessarily bad news, but scary nonetheless. It's bright red bleeding that we need to really watch out for. Pregnancy does bring all sorts of random pains, and earlier on I had the occasional sharp pain in my stomach when turning in bed - turned out to be muscles pulling in my case. So I want to be reassuring, but I also think your midwife or GP are important people to ring. Hope you get some good care, and that this turns out to be a one-off scary day and not bad news. ------------- Andie |

I had that in my first pregnancy and he has turned out reasonably normal. In any case, take yourself down to a GP, or a midwife if you have one - and get checked out. Nothing we say will be able to calm your nerves and the sooner you get checked out, the sooner you can hopefully relax.

I would go see your GP or midwife like the others have said. I had that type of bleeding at 8 weeks and completely panicked,..went to GP, had scan and all was good. I got weird sharp pains too like that which was muscles pulling like Andie said.
Get it checked out for your peace of mind, cos im sure u arent able to concentrate on anything else while u are worrying. Good luck. |

I had it in my first pregnancy and was told it was implantation bleeding. Get it checked out thou. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Can it be implantation bleeding at almost 10 weeks?
I'm too freaked out to call DH yet and I am at work so difficult to just leave and go to see my GP. I may need to wait for a little while before I can leave - on the other hand I can't think of anything else so probably a waste being here anyway. Does anyone know what will happen if I go to the GP? They probably would do a scan at 10 weeks coz bubs is big enough to be able to see clearly, and the results are quicker than a blood test.
That said, my m/w made me wait 3 days before I had a scan after my 9 week bleed to see whether it stopped or got worse. It was the longest three days of my life! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I would contact your GP and make an appointment. I'm sure your boss would be understanding about that and let you off work.
It probably is nothing to worry about at all. Like others I have some truely insane pains in the start (including pulling a groin muscle sneezing!). Brownish discharge is generally not a worry...i've had it off and on for almost a month now and everything is fine. If the blood is red however that is a different story. You need the peace of mind so I'd scoot in as soon as you can. You'll most likely get checked over and sent for a scan to ensure all is fine. Good luck! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Hope you got some good GP advice, etc. A scan is the most likely way they'll see what's happening... it'll put you at ease and give you some answers, and it's impossible not to think about it when things get like this, so you've got nothing to lose by seeing the Doc! | No offence here but if you rang your GP and explained the situation he/she could tell you over the phone all the answers to your questions (about the tests) right then and there on the phone rather than waiting for the responses of these wonderful ladies on here. Would seem much faster to me |

Hi everyone and thanks for the replies!
I have had a chat to my GP and all seems good - it seems to have been a one-off thing as there has been nothing since and I feel fine. I also had a good chat to dh and all is well with me today. It's funny how quickly I freaked out yesterday - I'm normally level headed and cope well with stress but yesterday was another story - barely remember most of the afternoon as I was sooooo worried. Emma....so will having two more at once make you an ULTRA-paranoid mother-type person or a paranoid GRAND-mother type person (not being a professional writer, I'm not sure where to add the adjective....)
Seriously though yummymummy - there are so many worries, concerns and niggles during pregnancy and motherhood, don't ever hold back on asking for advice from as many people and places as you need...and then use your judgement to balance what you'll listen to and what you'll ignore. No, I have not organised a midwife yet - I rang a few a while back but was told it was too early and have not done anything since. I waited until I was about 10 weeks and had heaps of trouble finding one as they were all booked. Ended up with a new grad m/w  Luckily we shifted part way through pregnancy and we use our GPs as LMC here.------------- Aimee Hannah 22/10/05 Greer 11/02/08 |

Sometimes it depends on the time of year you're due - some months are busier for midwifes. But I can't believe they told you it was too early!! You were right to try to arrange one when you did - hope you get a better result next time you call them! ------------- Andie |

i was told at seven weeks to make sure i had one...and funny but the few i rang were already pretty well booked up...then my specialist told me the other day he had turned down 30 women due Dec / jan / Feb due to him being on leave over xmas....seriously!!!
I cant believe how busy they get... |
