It looks like we are going to be moving later this year, probably October/November, and I'm just wondering if you experienced mums have any tips? There'll be hubby and me, Hannah nearly 3, Briona 1, and I'm pregnant too... hoping to not be too big and heavy by moving date but that's not completely within my control. Thanks guys!

I was 7 months pg when we moved house, and while I didn't have any other children to keep a handle on, my only tip is to sit back and tell everyone else what to do ! And of course no heavy lifting (yes I have a thing for stating the obvious)...

Get rid of the kids to grandparents and hire some movers! (In a perfect world)

i moved house when mikey was 5 months and basically i made sam do all the lifting and moving, all i did was pack.
if you can though, it might be good to see if someone can look after the kids, just to ease the load a bit.

I've moved a few times... three times with just Kiya, and once with Josiah as well.
If there is someone who can look after the kids it helps so much! They don't necessarily have to go to someone elses house... I had a friend who came and looked after Kiya at one of our old places, played with her and kept her out of everyone elses way while the rest of us packed and moved all the stuff.
Pack what you can starting as soon as you can, so that on moving day there isn't much to do. Get people to help with the final clean of your old house (if you need to do that) and if possible, borrow a vacuum, mop etc so that you don't have to keep yours out.

Set up everyone's beds first at the new place, so at least if everything else is in chaos you all have somewhere to sleep! PLus, your littlies won't be quite as weirded out if they have their familiar bedspread/bed toys in an unfamiliar place.

We moved a few weeks ago when I was 23 weeks pregnant. I sent Maya off with a friend while the truck was here so she didn't get in the way and had her dropped off after lunch so that she could help set up her new room. I was lucky I had an army of helpers too so we actually got most stuff unpacked that first day.
Oh and I definitely didn't lift anything! And hired a cleaner to do the final clean in the old place - it was $150, but soooo worth the freedom of not having to do it myself!

Thanks everyone We're going on the market this weekend - arhhhgghh in advance for all the open homes coming up! We're getting a small army to come around on Saturday to do the final clean-up before all the Property Press photos are taken.... such a big job! DH has been great, I just pack boxes and leave them wherever they are, and when he gets home he shifts them all into a tidy pile
