i posted a brief note in the august mums section about the arrival of my wee girl.... finally have a bit of free(ish) time to go into more detail.
i went into the hospital just after 8am, was montiored for a while, given the gel at 9.30am (cervix and things not too favourable.....) had a few tightenings, but nothing major for HOURS..... tiny contractions that werent regular.... midwife was going to break my waters around 1pm but there hadnt been much change, and i still wasnt having much in the way of contractions so we stuck it out till just before 5pm when my contractions finally started to be more noticable (just!) OB broke my waters at 5pm i was on 3cm dialted. had to be monitored for a while again, and was showing a funny rhythm with bubs heartrate during my contractions..... i got into the bath about 5.30pm and contractions started becoming quite intense..... i was needing to poop a bit more with each contraction so got out, sat on the toilet..... then "HELLO" really had the urge that i had to push.... midwife came and told me to get on the bed and she checked me.... a few pushes later and kayla was born at 6.18pm weighing 5lb 15oz.... first night went pretty good. she's doing great, lost a small amount of weight but is now pretty close to her birth weight again 
and im starting to adjust to life as a mum of 3 wee girls, although im at the blubbery stage, tired, emotional etc.... but happy too. |
