Now that Erin is bottle fed, I'm wondering roughly how long it should take for my breast milk to completely dry up? I know I have stopped producing most of it, but (and sorry if TMI) occasionally still leak just a tiny little bit in the shower. Will it ever completely go away? Is there anything I can take to help this, or will I just have to live with a bit of leakage?

It'll completely go away. You can wear cabbage leaves to help with the sensitivity (if overfull) and they can help dry up supply too, but if it is just a little bit in the shower and only occasionally it's probably not worth it.

Yeah, only had about 2-3 days where I'd get a bit overfull, so expressed off a bit to relieve the pressure... Do you know roughly how long it takes to completely dry up ?

it took me a couple of weeks to comletely dry up, I still worn pads though for a month or so just in case. The heat from the shower is what is causing you to leak aswell, completely normal

took me a wee while, was gone within a week from start to finish though. I wouldnt take any drugs for it because my midwife said the old ones they used have been linked to cancer and she doesnt trust the new ones and i figured it wasnt worth the risk

Well I'm no expert since I've been lactating for the last 22 months & I haven't weaned before, but I've been told cabbage leaves, lots & lots of water and just leave them alone as much as possible.
Alot of women never truly dry up. My Aunty still complained of milk spots on her bras 3 years after quitting breastfeeding. She was quite annoyed about that! But everyone is different so its hard to say.

I'm going to try to cabbage leaves and the "grin and bear it" methods. After another peaceful night without any Colic at all we have come to the conclusion that it was my milk giving my bubs a tummy full of gas (even after we had our old MW come to make sure I was still doing everything right with latching on etc) so now Caitlin is fully formula feed and the two hours struggle to get her to bed after EVERY feed is over

Even though I know this is for her own good (formula) I miss feeding her already )

I'm hearing you Toni - I stopped feeding Hannah on Friday and I miss it too even tho she doesnt! I'm really surprised as I have no problems with sore boobs etc, I decided on WEd I'd stop, feed her thurs morning and fri morning and that was it. There was obviously enough there for her before but it just doesnt seem to have refilled! Maybe its cos she was only having three feeds a day now?

Hope it doesnt take too long for you TOni

Cabbage leaves are good - I found that they were best kept in the fridge until needed so they were nice and cool.

I went through a mourning period when I had to stop breastfeeding Andrew. Even though it was absolutely awful because he wasn't feeding properly, was unsettled, I was on drugs to boost supply and I had to express every two to three hours I still felt awful stopping and going on to exclusive bottle feeding. I know it was the best thing for him as he started putting on weight straight away and was more settled, but it did feel like it was the last that he was physically reliant on my body for anything.

Best of luck

my left boob seems to have all dried up but my right one is in milk making overdrive! I just had to express some off and managed to get 8oz before I felt any relief!
...so here I am with E cup cabbage leaves stuffed down my bra - NICE!

Toni - had the exact same problem with my left boob, but it did eventually settle on it's own.

I think my milk has stopped already! I stopped BFing on Monday morning and started taking the Milk Stop spray yesterday lunchtime - I've woken up with normal boobies! They still feel a bit more "firm" than my pre-baby boobs but that's not a bad thing aye? LOL
