talk to your midwife there are some medicines that are safe to take while you are pregnant that can help with the nausea. eat whatever you feel like eating not just what you should, and the more often you eat the less sick you will feel. accupuncture, sea bands etc help for some people. wherever possible try to avoid things that make it worse

Welcome smbroekhals!

I know how you're feeling! I felt absolutely terrible from about 6 weeks to 14 weeks and really couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel...

I just ate whatever I felt like, which tended to be high fat/carbohydrate food like chips, hash browns, deep fried fish etc. I couldn't stomach anything I'd normally eat like vegetables, salad or fruit... It was like having a constant hangover.
I used a herbal tea from Artemis called Digestive Ease Tea. It was recommended to me and made a huge difference. I'd sip a cup in the morning before I got out of bed.
Some people swear by flavoured milk, sour lollies, barley sugars etc.
Ginger anything; tea, biscuits etc. I also had mint imperials in the car to suck on, they helped.

For more ideas do a search on this forum - it's up the top right of the screen in blue. Heaps of previous discussions on morning sickness come up...you'll find something in there to help you.

I got a prescription from my Dr in the end but only took them once - decided they didn't really do that much and to be honest I'd rather not take anything when I'm pregnant if I can help it.

Just remember that it is temporary (usually!)...

Yes eat what you want whenever you want. I have also been constantly sucking on spearmints and mint imperials. You can also try some of the nausea sprays that are available at the pharmacy. And if you need to throw up don't fight it. Oh and I am loving iced water, I find that if I stay hydrated then I feel much better. And do something to take your mind off it if possible.

Yeah, I second the eat what you want theory. For me the only foods that didn't make me feel crap for the first 12 weeks or so were bland carby foods like hot chips and bread and butter sammies. I felt bad eating such crap coz I'd been eating really well before I got pregnant but oh well... you just have to find what works for you, and you can make up for it later when the morning sickness wears off!

Don't let yourself get too hungry either - even if you can only eat a cracker, it's something in your stomach and that seems to help. Eat little and often. Also if you're being sick quite a lot, make sure you're drinking enough, coz baby does need you to stay hydrated!!

And do just talk to your midwife... there are definitely some potions you can take to stop you feeling sick and that don't affect baby!

I found that some pills from the health shop really helped. The brand is radiance, and they are called 'DigestEzyme'.    It is Papaya, Melon and Mint and they made me feel much better.
Other than that nothing really did much. Besides eating crackers constantly - that does help.

My nausea was so bad I couldnt eat anything or it came back up. So I went to my GP and got some antinausea pills which I found fantastic. I would have struggled without these tablets, and still found it hard at times even with them.

Ohh it sux eh, I still have it at 16 weeks in waves, wish it would go! Really the maint hign that helps take the edge off is eating, quite hard when you don't feel like it tho. I found no other meds really works (I tried morningmed spray, ginger), I have meds from dr but have been too chicken to use them... yet... if it carries on for much longer I might give in, at least am past the 1st tri so will be less chance of affecting Peanut.
Good luck and I hope your nausea doesn't last for long!

Make sure you do eat, as the hungrier you are the sicker you will feel, just snack on a little and often, even if it takes you an hour to eat one gingernut cookie, do it :)

I found this spray from Natropharm called "Morningmed Spray" worked wonders for me my second pregnancy!

With my son anything salty and savoury helped, with my daughter it was chocolate milk!

*hugs* Its not nice, but for most people its gone by 12 weeks.
