Hi All

Can anyone recommend which classes are the best to attend in palmy and also how soon to book?

Cheers

I did the parent centre ones. My MW told me to stay clear of the free ones at the hospital as they often attract a lower class of people IYGWIM. A friend did her's there and she didn't get a coffee group out of it and didn't get along with any of the people. Whereas, we still catch up at least once a week for various outings and we all get along really well.

As far as the learning side of it goes, I learnt far more from reading this forum and books.

Guess it depends what you want to get out of it. We couldn't afford to pay for antenatal classes so we went with the free ones. I wouldn't call us lower class we just had other priorities to spend our money on. I wasn't really interested in the coffee group side of thing so I didn't really care about that. They give you everyones contact details at the end so you can create a coffee group if you choose.

The classes themselves were fine but you can learn so much more just on this forum like mamat said. Except the one thing that I did learn through antenatal class that you probably won't find on here is that palmy hospital is one of very few hospitals who like to use fentynal (sp?) rather than pethidine for pain relief as it has less side effects.

I did mine at the hospital and MamaT I would be interested to know who your MW was because that is a very rude comment to be made. I am not in the lower class of people and I did mine there and infact everyone that was in my antenatal class was or the high middle to high class of people.

Coffee groups are also individual, not everyone wants to go to them.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
