Hey guys,

Just wondering if and how long before treatment people have had a counselling session...and did you find it helpful?

I'm feeling pretty good about everything at the moment ( and we are still a few months away from starting ICSI) , but we have an appointment next week with our FS to go over our plan, and I'm thinking about seeing if I can book a counselling session on the same day just cos we'll be over there anyway.

Anyway just wanted to get some feedback on how helpful you found it, and if I should wait until we're in the thick of things.

I guess I'm thinking there may be issues that DH and I haven't even thought of though that perhaps we should be discussing now?

Hey JaneW

When we had our orientation at F+ one of things that we had to do was talk to a counsellor. DH and I found it somewhat helpful but for us just talking out what we were thinking seemed to help better. I do know there are some people who have used them and found them helpful. I guess it is personal perference.

Sorry to not me much help. All the best with your treatment and wishing you a BFP.

Cheers Fozzie...we do talk through it ourselves anyway too...I think I will wait a couple of months and see what happens!

Hey Jane

We had our counselling session the same day as our appointment leading into IVF#1 (God, so long ago!) and to be honest the counselling is more a going over of what to expect, how it all works etc, rather than actual 'counselling' I don't know how to explain it but I didn't find it particularly helpful from a counselling perspective.

Thanks for that hon, I think I will leave it for now, especially since I'm in a good place anyway, I guess I was worried we might be missing some important issues to discuss but we do talk about a lot of stuff...my main worry is what to do if we have any left over embryos! But I guess we will cross that bridge if and when we come to it...prob a bit too early to be thinking about that now anyway! Thanks for the feedback :)
